  • Big snowfall coming to New England this weekend, wouldn’t mind cozying up here with some wine and lots of cheese while watching it fall and thinking about going outside to enjoy winter in all its glory but most likely staying put by the fire instead 🤷‍♀️🧀🔥 Also this spot is listed on @cabinescapes in the New Hampshire section if you’re wondering ☺️

  • Current state of things at our seasonal cabin and how it will remain until the spring. I have lots of time between now and then to plan and design and hunt down vintage furniture & fixtures. I guess the upside of not being able to get here during the winter is much more time on the weekends to hit up estate sales & antique stores all over New England 😏

  • New year, new me! JK new year, same me. Retreated to this spot for a few days to plan and scheme for what’s to come in 2019. I love my studio, but brainstorming about new Forestbound projects is much nicer fireside 📝🔥

  • Trying to get in all the time we can at our cabin before the snow is too deep and accessing this little spot of ours becomes v difficult (yes we can get here via snowshoes but the complicated part is having a safe place to park our car since the cabin is located half a mile off an old logging road that is not plowed/maintained). Our trip up yesterday was short but sweet.. just enough time to warm up the cabin, drink some tea, and relax a bit. I love how this corner is coming together.. the goal is practical but cozy and I think we’re successfully achieving that. We have so much stored in this bench! And so reclining here and enjoying the view feels that much better knowing all our tools & supplies are comfortably stored underneath. In the spring I’ll put up a shelf on this wall and find a rug that works under the table, but for now I’m just enjoying the space as is and how much we’ve done in a year. Also we should probably just call this place Sheepskin Manor since I clearly have an addiction 🤷‍♀️

  • Might not look like too much right now but we’ve been tackling this kitchen slowly & surely. Doing it all off grid is definitely a challenge, especially given the super rainy summer & fall we had in New Hampshire. We power some of our tools with @goalzero batteries and the rest are rechargeable @ryobipowertools since we have no electricity here at the cabin (we charge all our batteries up at home during the week). The plank walls took a lot longer than they might have elsewhere due to the rain and our power limitations.. but we’re very happy with how it all came together in the end. The next step is building base cabinets and installing a new sink where this cabinet currently resides (we carry in all our water and the sink drains out below the cabin). And then open shelving along the walls. Another positive side of taking our time is that I have more opportunities to find all the objects we want/need for the kitchen at thrift shops, antique stores, at the town transfer station (aka dump) for free, or make things ourselves. Not as much instant gratification, but in the end all the objects are more intentional and meaningful. Hoping the snow holds off this week and we can get back up here this weekend 🛠🕯🙏🏼

  • This was not an easy year. For me there was a lot of uncertainty combined with a few looming big decisions and changes. I am very much a creature of habit who thrives on structure and discipline, so the unknown really throws me. But I’m doing my best to think of it more like an r&d year. I learned a lot about myself and the source of my anxieties, I poured myself into working on my business & on our cabin.. and with all of that hard work amidst a stressful year I gained more clarity than I was anticipating. And of course I didn’t see it happening when I was in it.. it’s only now that I’ve had time to pause that I can really feel a change within myself. I think I see a bigger picture now much clearer than I did a year ago. And I’m starting to get excited about taking a few risks instead of leading with fear and holding back.. which is something I tend to do. Life is messy and hard and I’m not sure it gets easier.. you just learn how to handle it all better. And I think waiting for it all to feel easier or less stressful will keep you waiting for a long time. You just power through and embrace the little things that help you stay excited & curious & present. So it seemed appropriate to post this photo I took of our cabin yesterday - it’s not done and it’s not perfect and admittedly that gives me some anxiety, but we poured so much of ourselves into this place in 2018 and it’s really starting to show and I am proud of that. I’m genuinely bursting at the seams to start this year and get working on some very exciting new projects for Forestbound. I feel inspired creatively in a way I haven’t felt in a long time. Can’t wait to see what comes of it all, and I think you all are going to be excited too 🤞🏼 Thanks for reading my rambles.. happy new year 🙏🏼🙂

  • All I want for Christmas is to curl up in this sun drenched spot with a big pile of books and a plate of cookies and not move for a few days 🌞📖🍪 Also - if you’d like to enter a giveaway for a Forestbound bag head over to @cabinlove before the 26th 🤗

  • Remember a few weeks ago when I was talking about our New Year’s Eve in a cabin tradition? Yeah well I procrastinated on booking the place I had my eye on and of course now nothing is available since apparently December ends in two-ish weeks (how’d that happen?!). That’s what I get for preemptively patting myself on the back for being a (hypothetical) good planner. Ah well, a weekend at home with Chinese food and movies doesn’t sound so bad either! Also large chance we attempt to spend New Year’s Eve at our own cabin and end up frozen 🤷‍♀️❄️🎉
