  • Birthdate.
Y do people celebrate a day that should instead remind u that ur getting closer to death?
People usually gag when they hear that i was born on Valentine's day😂
Honestly, it doesn't mean a thing to me. It's just like any other day.
🙇‍♀️ I've stopped celebrating birthdays since around 6-7 years back. Well, i do like to receive gifts and surprises and maybe a nice cosy meal, but other than this i stay low-key. I feel like there's a pressure to celebrate and go out.

It's just one day where you ask the universe to stop and celebrate you, the greatness of you and the fact that you exist.
Also if someone loves u genuinely, they will show it to u every moment and every day they get and not just 1 particular day and that too a day when u've lost a full year off ur life and ur getting closer to the end of ur life.

The main reason i forbade myself from celebrating is because the evidence in the Qur’aan and Sunnah indicates that celebrating birthdays is a kind of bid’ah or innovation in religion, which has no basis in the pure sharee’ah. A person is extinguishing the rays of the years of his life by blowing the candles out himself. Then this is no happiness, nor is it any achievement.

Like I told my husband, you don't have to celebrate WHICH birthday it is....just that you've made another enormous lap around a giant ball of flaming gas on a huge rock spinning through space. You've travelled thousands of miles and made hundreds of memories.

I'd much rather receive a gift on a random day because someone likes me or is happy with something I did. It's much more genuine. This is also something that I put into practice with other people. I don't wait until mother's day to give my mother a present. Nor do I wait until a friends birthday to give them a present. If I'm happy with them or I see something that I know they'd like, I get it for them & hopefully brighten what would be an otherwise random mundane day.
These are solely my thoughts and opinions
What are ur thoughts about celebrating birthdays??
