When I tell you the numbers on the scale don't mean anything, they don't. It's all how you carry your weight. Last year at this time I was a solid 150 pounds (I am 5'3). I lost weight going into summer because I had some military stuff to do that I needed to be in better shape for and got down to 133 and it was obvious. I picked up about 3 pounds after that when I backed off on cardio and focused more on weight lifting. When I found out I was pregnant I was right at 137ish. It is crazy how I weigh less now being pregnant than this time last year! #shepregnanttho#shefittoo#shefittho#fitpregnancy#flashbackfriday
#Flashbackfriday to one of Loki's first photoshoots.😍 It's crazy how much his eyes changed! They went from blue, to light green, to brown and then finally to the warm amber color he has now.
He had a really weird pose in the original photo, but I fixed it in Lightroom using the clome tool. Peep my story for the before/after.

This is gonna be a long one.. 😋 This picture was taken on top of a skyscraper in NYC. It was one of the most exhilarating experiences I’ve had as a model. This was not a location we stumbled upon but we took an elevator up as far as it would take us in the tall ass building, we then had to have a janitor unlock the stairwell door so we could hike up 8 more flights of stairs before getting to the spot that’s in the picture. After we got this shot, we climbed a vertical, rod iron ladder up to the tippy top. There were no walls to keep us from falling, no safety nets... no one knew we were up there. The Empire State Building was just a few blockes away and right behind this building. It was so beautiful and the view was so surreal it took my breath away. When I closed my eyes it felt like I was flying. It’s hard to describe this feeling unless you were there so I’m sorry, I tried lmao. Anyways, this city gives me life every time I’m there. I ❤️ NY haha #flashbackfriday#Manhattan#ParkAve#modellife

✨2018 taught me that it’s OK...and pretty exciting to have some personal and professional goals outside of my typical title...”Mother”. It doesn’t make you a bad mother to pursue your dreams and passions after children come. Whether that means a hobby you have been wanting to take up, or a professional path that you have put on the back burner when the kids came. Make time for yourself. It matters✨
✨A memory just came up in my newsfeed. My New Years Resolution for 2018...”I’m going to pour my heart into learning more about birth and labor and take on my first Doula clients in 2018”✨
Then yesterday I received an email from my Doula Training Program, DTI, congratulating me that I’m now a Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula!
Was it hard doing this work while being a mother of three, growing life inside of me, being there for my husband, holding it down on the home front, and making any time I could for some self care? Yes. But that’s what makes the reward of reaching a goal even more satisfying.
And these beautiful women that allowed me to gratefully be by their sides, holding space for them, was a honor that’s hard to describe.
Each of them welcomed their babies from different journeys and different places✨
However.....The love. The gratefulness. The excitement of meeting their precious babies in those first seconds of life. They were all the same. Regardless of how life was brought earthside, every mother and every father shared the same amazing moment when their eyes meet their baby’s eyes for the first time.
👋So MOMS!!!! Don’t give up on your dreams. Make yourself happy so you can continue to pour your love into your children, into your family, and live a fulfilled life. That to me, is what makes a good mother. Don’t buy into people telling you, you should only have one title after your babies are born.
Much love to the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as we celebrate what would've have been his 89th birthday. Though, the media tries to sanatize him and misquote his words to pacify modern day movements but the prophetic tenor of his words haven't been lost on all of us. Thanks the brother @saelahunplugged helped to find @xoulcity some jewels lost in the archives for @preppybeats to sample on our song "Black Excellence" off our debut album that dropped a year ago. Sprinkled throughout this snippet of the song you can hear parts of a speech MLK have to a group of students in CLEVELAND, Ohio at Glenville High School on April 26, 1967. I love that he affirms cultural heritage, the beauty of the often despised, and the inherent value that lies in being an image bearer of God.

We chose "Building a Global Community" as the main heading on our website because, well, it accurately reflects the IKAA Network. In this picture from the Annual Convention 2014 in Amsterdam, we have representatives from Chicago, Belgium, France, Denmark, Italy, Seattle, The Netherlands (of course), New York, and Sweden! Come join our global community at the IKAA Gathering next year in Seoul!

1 year healthier. On the left I was rushing last minute to find an outfit to wear to a concert with my boyfriend at the time. I realized that it was tough finding clothes that I fit and liked on my body. 1 year later I took the photo on the right before heading my single self to a yoga studio for a Wellness Workshop. Here's to another year of growth. I hope that I only get better. Stronger. Smarter. Healthier. Happier. As well as more genuine, and more kind.
