If you didn’t see it in fitness news this week, a study showed that those who could complete more than 40 push-ups in one minute had 96% fewer issues related to cardiovascular disease, compared with those who finished fewer than 10. Dr. Stefanos Kales, one of the authors of the study, stressed that push-up performance was a predictor of cardiovascular health and not necessarily a cause. “It’s probably not the push-up, per se,” he said. “It’s that the push-up is giving you an indication of what’s going on under the hood.”
*I’d be willing to say the same applies to females who can perform more than 25, even though this study was performed on males.
