  • Update on Lace:
Lacey decided to move back home to have the family support she needs for her medical care. She’s registered locally at Moorpark College, and will return to work in February. Lace is three weeks into her chemo regimen (GemOx/Avastine, a 6 hour Infusion every 2 weeks). Some days/and especially nights are very rough due to side effects. We do what needs to be done for her to comfortably get through those nights. When she’s feeling good , she’s having fun being a normal 18 year old sunshine self. She’s in a good proactive space with the medical team on board between RUSH, Chicago UCLA and City of Hope, coupled with Lacey’s Warrior Spirit! New Imaging is scheduled December 12th. 💛💪🏼 🌻 #LaceyStrong

  • UPDATE ON LACE: Delayed on posting because sometimes it’s simply too much. It’s often a roller coaster of great news, stable news and at times painful news. Still, Lacey’s bright spirit and resilience in the face of some of the worst pain and sickness in her life...Warrior Strong. 💪🏼💛 Recent Imaging shows some disease progression in and around the abdominal wall. The Good news is that its grown at a much slower rate than before her Debulking surgery in October. This could mean the current treatment is working. Also, With FHCC, there is an over-expression of B12. A year ago, we started pushing for consistent labs that included more quantitive results than the “>4000” B12 levels. Since July, we’ve been able to monitor Lacey’s B12 levels more consistently and these results look like a trend with tumor growth. If a trend, then the B12 levels that show an increase recently, followed by a recent decrease, may also mean treatment is working. Lacey has chosen to continue the current treatment regimen of Gemox/Avastine with imaging again on January 9th. She has an awesome medical team and a few additional experts monitoring her journey. We have Plan B in place here at UCLA (w/the guidance of RUSH Peds Onc), while continuing to search for her cure. January 7th, we’re off to San Francisco (consult for an upcoming trial). Tumor samples from the last surgery sent to Living Donor Transplant Surgeon in Pittsburg, City of Hope and Cornell University. We are ready if needed, to head back to Chicago with the commitment from her team at RUSH University for surgery “Tell Lacey to keep her head up! We will keep fighting!” “We are going for cure!” YOU GOT THIS LACE AND WE GOT YOU!!! 💪🏼💛 #FU2C #LaceyStrong #WarriorStrong #LaceyGrace #FibroFighters #FibroFoundation #AgouraHills #UCLAPediatricOncology
