Zhao Youning became a hawker because he could not find an authentic bowl of 'chendol' (iced sweet dessert) in Singapore. To him, the satisfaction from producing a well-made dish is the greatest reward. This is why his @oldamoychendol store has only a single item on its menu.
His version of 'chendol' is a recipe adapted from his grandfather. Youning makes everything from scratch daily - slow-cooking Japanese azuki beans instead of canned beans and using premium ingredients like cold-pressed coconut milk to ensure quality. The result is a traditional dessert that keeps everything real. At only $2 a pop, this masterpiece is a steal.

Bask in the beauty of Oriental art. Tucked away in the corners of Joo Chiat lies the Black Earth Art Museum. Housed in a striking red building, the commercial art gallery supports work by East Asian and local artists. Admire calligraphy and traditional Chinese ink and wash, and relax in the serenity of art. It will be an escape from the bustling streets outside.

[MEENAH AND CHEENA] Our REVIEW of ‘Meenah And Cheena’ by @dreamacademysg is now out on Bakchormeeboy.com. “Ultimately, even amidst the rambunctious sketches, Meenah and Cheenah is a show that's firmly about the importance of co-existence and cultural exchange. It sets a useful precedence on the basis of comedy that race isn’t a taboo topic to discuss openly, one that theatre itself allows audiences to encounter in a safe space, simultaneously educating and entertaining. With Meenah and Cheenah, Dream Academy has crafted a show that's full of heart, full of laughs and quintessentially, absolutely Singaporean. Who run the world? The answer is clear: One Meenah, One Cheenah, One Singapore.” Meenah and Cheenah (Rerun) runs from 21st February to 10th March 2019 at the Capitol Theatre. Tickets available from SISTIC. @dreamacademysg@siti__k@judeetan@bigdimsumdolly#Meenah#Cheena
