Missing Mexico and getting to wear my custom @unikaswim bikini! They fit the suit to your body perfectly. Such a good concept. It’s sooo comfy

When I was competing back in 2015, I dated someone who was also big into bodybuilding. We vibed about fitness, but otherwise the relationship was emotionally abusive, manipulative and F’ed up.
That October, I competed in my 2nd bikini show and gained about 20 lbs shortly afterwards, something that is relatively “normal” in the industry (even though it’s the unhealthy rebound effect of dehydration, starvation and post-show binge eating). But I, of course, felt like a complete failure for not keeping my “bikini body” after the competition and emotionally, I was a mess. 😔
One night, this person looked at me and said, “I’m so glad you’re not skinny anymore. I don’t like f*cking skinny girls.”
My whole world came crashing down.
Suddenly my entire IDENTITY was questioned because
(a) someone called me “not skinny” which in my head == fat which in my head == worthless, pathetic, lazy, failure, ugly, etc and
(b) I tortured myself to be thin and all my efforts were a waste?!??
All I could think in my head was “WTF, WTF, WTF” on repeat.
It took me much time to process this, but the main thing I learned is that your body is not created for anybody but YOU.
It’s not for pleasing men (or women).
It’s not for likes on an Instagram picture.
It’s not for society’s approval.
Your body is YOUR home.
So don’t give it away to fuckboys, to diet culture or to ANYONE who questions your intrinsic beauty. ♥️
I want to share more about loving your body during sex, dating and relationships… Would you like that?
If so, let me know in the comments what you want to hear about! 👇

READ THIS POST! And look at the video at the end of the pics. Today's #POGH (People Of Good Health) post is long, amazing, & so important. Especially if you have kids at home. Not only is this sweet girl the best example of someone trying to live her healthiest life, but her amazing parents also demonstrate incredible courage & mind health as they fight to make a positive world for Romey. If you have questions or concerns about T1D, PM @jemified_ . You don't have to fight it alone & you can educate yourself to be more prepared to find it in your child. With that, I'll turn it over to Jem and let her tell Romey's story:
I couldn’t deny the distinct impression to name her Roman, even though it seemed like such a strong name for a sweet girl. But as we found ourselves hospitalized one night upon the diagnosis that she was type one diabetic, at one & a half years old, & in critical condition...her name made sense. we learned real fast that this little girl was going to have to be real strong.
As her parents, we were dumbfounded. the main signs & symptoms of T1D are that you eat a lot, you drink a lot, & you pee a lot—all things that any growing child does. she was our firstborn, & I had heard other moms talk about growth spurts & complain about leakage & figured that was all we were experiencing. I didn’t even consider diabetes as an option! This is why I feel it so important to tell our story.
T1D has no known cause & is not always easy to detect, particularly in kids, as it is often disguised in normal, human needs. But catching it is only one finger poke away—it really is that simple!—& could literally save you or your child’s life. 🚨LAYING MY ROMEY GIRL DOWN TO SLEEP THAT NIGHT COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL MISTAKE.🚨Here we are, just over a year later & trying to maintain the blood sugars of a toddler who is running around, grazing all day, & growing lots is the rollercoaster you’d imagine. BUT you will not find a happier, more courageous girl than Roman!
She never complains when we give her shots when she‘s high, or when she has to stop playing & eat a quick snack. (Finished in comments)
And it feels so good! Good morning ladies ✨ have you figured out your worth yet? If not, that’s okay! Society treats women only as valuable as her body, her husband, and if she has children. We are so much more than that! We are intelligent, bosses, AND leaders. Take the time to reflect on your worth today 👑 #thequeenscorner
Your eating disorder may convince you that you HAVE to be a certain body size, HAVE to eat a certain way, and HAVE to engage in specific behaviors... but that is the eating disorder/diet culture talking. You don’t have to be a certain size, eat a certain way, or do anything diet culture tells you to do.
You can be you. Not a washed down version of you that is trying to fit into the culture.

Are you a member of the clean plate club? Or do you feel uncomfortable throwing food away? Does guilt take over? There’s starving children in the world.
Where do you think you learned this from?
Scarcity mindset sets us up to feel this way whether we grew up with food insecurity due to poverty or living in a home where there was chronic dieting - therefore the food you wanted wasn’t available. This can also be a food behavior that was passed down to us from previous generations who survived something like the potato famine or the Great Depression.
We don’t trust that this food will always be there so we better have it all now while we can. With financial scarcity we might not believe there’s more out there for us so have it while you can. During our dieting days we had ‘cheat’ days where we’d eat the whole pile of nachos because who knows when we’ll let ourselves eat it again.
We don’t have to do this anymore with intuitive eating. It might take some time for your mind and body to trust you can always have this food later.. tomorrow.. the next day. Giving ourselves permission to eat this food when we want it can be hard at first but you’ll eventually crave more variety.
As you tune into your hunger and fullness cues you might notice you don’t need to lick the plate clean every time. You’ll also come to realize that how much you eat really isn’t affecting the starving people in the world. And if it bothers us that much we can donate money to help feed them 💗

@fabletics Powerhold 7/8 in Serpentine (Plus Shop, size 1x)
Avery Top (Plus Shop, 2x)
You can watch my story to see me dance test them, lol.
I read a thread yesterday on @fabletics sponsored post asking what their leggings look like on thick girls. While they use plus size models, the commenters were frustrated that models that carry their weight in their thighs and their bums and shoppers wanted to know what they look like on chubby stomach girls... So here you go.
Fabletics PowerHold line are tied with @grrrl_clothing Next Levels Tights for my favorite leggings. They have performance level compression (which I need for cycling) and they gave high quality construction (flat-lock seams). I've found them to be squat proof and they hold their compression after lots of wear. the waist band also is comfy, high, and stays in place!!! I've notices the Tops tend to run a size smaller than the leggings, or it's just my propositions, so I always size up.
This isn't an ad... I just really like the brand and you can use my referal link if you want to try some. (link also in bio)
Don’t forget to play! Play? Yes!! So often we get lost in checking items off our to-do lists that we forget to play, have fun, and laugh. Find sometime today to play - it will help you feel better 💜 📸: frank mckenna
