I’m not going to lie, 2018 was a wonderful yet very hard year for our little family. There were so many up’s and quite a few down’s. The last three months of 2018 were exceptionally hard. I try to keep these small squares as positive as I can because I know everyone has those days so I don’t share a lot of our personal life on here. I also don’t make New Years resolutions and I try not to dwell on the past so I didn’t really mention much on my thoughts for 2019. Every morning is a new day and a fresh start. Because the end of 2018 was so rough, we left our Christmas decorations up longer than usual so we could enjoy them and I just finished putting everything up this morning. Feeling rejuvenated, I burned some Palo Santo sent to me from my friends @westperro and as I was spinning one of my favorite albums, a quote that I’ve always loved really hit me today. 🎶 “Such a long long time to be gone and a short time to be there” 🎶 Like I said, I don’t make resolutions but if we can all remember every morning that, our time is truly very short here maybe we’ll make each day that much better ✨🧡✨

Well I finally put most of the kid’s Christmas things/ toys/ crap etc away today... it’s just in their window seat storage so still easily accessible but I just couldn’t stand it all piled up in the bedroom anymore! The next challenge is putting the two year old in a bed next her sister 🙈 I can only imagine her chatting away to her older sister or getting out of bed every two seconds. That was another reason I didn’t want a million toys lying around all over for her to be shouting ‘Peppa pig’ every two seconds instead of going to sleep 😴 I just need to buy some sides to go on the bed and put the stair gate on the room. Oh the joys 😅 #windowseat#baywindow

Today on the blog we are showing you how to make this rainbow letter board and celebrating Dolly Parton! Because... who doesn’t love Dolly?
Today I got home, stripped down and got right in the shower. It was a long ass week and I needed to cleanse. 💆🏻♀️ My emotions ran high all week. When I was home alone, I was feeling motivated but lonely and down. When I was working, I felt energized but overwhelmed and disconnected. The week flew by and I never gave myself a chance to explore all these conflicting feelings. So tonight, I needed to give myself some DOWNTIME and LOVE. 💕 I’m taking tonight to do a face mask, drink some tea, journal and learn from this past week. .
When I write, I let my mind run free and just write everything down that pops into my head. It’s my way of gaining clarity and download all the thoughts that are constantly flowing. 🌸 Big things are happening this year and I can already feel the shift. I’m putting emphasis on balancing out my inner self to identify the path I need to be on. 🌙 Happy Friday! .
What do you do after a long week to reset?

Looking into the office kitchen from outside. Minus 6 degrees this morning, so better to get inside quickly and start the coffee machine. . .

One of my many precious and thoughtful Christmas gifts was this book Terrain- Ideas and Inspiration for decorating the Home and Garden from @shopterrain which I received from my sister! 🧡🧡I could not pick a book that embodies me more than this. This older piece has a lot of bold energy and I think a return to this color palette 🎨 might be in order! Something different may be a welcome change of pace for the new year.⠀
Sometimes there is the impulse to seek out a lot of change but it’s also ok to hold onto the bits from the past that sparked ✨ something positive in you too. ⠀
Different yet still familiar. New yet tried and true. The combination creates balance and in the end probably growth too. ⠀

Sticking with the bathroom, here’s another view. Someday I’ll post before & after of this space. It’s been entirely gutted. The original mirror was a medicine cabinet, single size and unframed. I found this gorgeous piece at a cutesy thrift shop in Minneapolis, and when I got it home I was so amazed to see that it matched exactly the label & brand of the one we removed.
