Tell me your dreams.
Do I paint my dreams or do my dreams paint me?
Some say that what you look for is actually looking for you already.
I feel this to be true in art. Usually I don’t know why the heck I am choosing a certain face/emotion/composition, I just “know” this is it.
This knowing seems to come from somewhere below the diafragme, lately I’ve heard a lot about the Vagus-intelligence.
Free translation: gut-feeling.
So here I go again, painting my gut feeling to the best of my knowings.
I am stepping away from the overall composition and toying around with different background solutions.
In this painting a bit of baroque-ish curls, kinda like architectural embellishing will emerge from behind the head. (Or perhaps not and I will smudge it all away!)
As curious as me to see how this will evolve? Follow me!

“Effie and Mabel”. Oil on Board 24x48. 2006. inspiration : tired of hearing myself talk.
Choose joy. Simple words but in today’s world surprisingly hard to do. There are so many things that are created to distract you from your joy. Little happiness thieves sneaking in in the periphery of your life. Taking time for yourself to do things that silence the world and allow you to hear yourself can help you re-claim the space inside your mind and spirit where your happiness is generated. I know in the world that pushes commercialism as the primary source of happiness sometimes we forget that the generator of our bliss exists within us taking time to create art is one of those activities then allows for that quiet contemplation. Now I know I’m a chatty teacher but I’m also aware that there are entire sections of the painting we pause the video and complete a section. The quiet in those moments is precious.Your well-being is precious. This lesson is up on YouTube. And it’s one of my favorite three who paintings I’ve ever done.
