When they reached the camp, the survivors that they found (Around 2,000) asked for water, food and help. The field was full of corpses: dead in their beds, scattered outdoors where they have died of hunger, thirst, scarlet fever, typhus or executed by the SS.

"Himmler claimed that the extermination of the Jews was a glorious page of history that had never been written and demanded his men to stop the extermination in the gas chambers, destroying all evidence of the massacre”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It is not known exactly when Anne and Margot died in Bergen Belsen. According to the latest investigation in 2015, they may have died in early February 1945. Some witnesses recalled that the Franks sisters displayed symptoms of everything from February 7, and according to health officials, victims who are not treated may die within 12 days after the onset of the first symptoms.
Both Anne and Margot took typhus because of an epidemic of the disease that spread through Bergen Belsen. The main symptoms of the disease are rashes, fever, headache, kidney failure and blockage of small blood vessels. When the disease reaches the nervous system it can cause delusions and convulsions.
"We visited Anne and Margot again ... Margot had fallen from the bunk and was half inconcinte." Anne was already feverish ... She was very nice and loving ... Margot did not survive the fall. and she stood in front of me, wrapped in a blanket, and she had no more tears. - janny brilleslijper
Anne died alone a few days after margot.

Part 8
Pieter Meerburg
In 1942, Pieter Adriaan Meerburg, a law student, received a phone call from a Jewish friend who was being ordered to a forced labor camp in Northern Holland. This sparked his interest in the resistance. He became the leader of the Amsterdam Student Group, a group of students that found safe homes for Jewish children with gentiles in an attempt to save them.
He worked under the false name of Piet Van Dorn and presented himself as a train inspector which allowed him to travel freely throughout the Netherlands and avoid being sent to a work camp himself. He traveled to discover areas to place the children.
“Meerburg’s first attempts, in July and August of 1942, at finding hiding places in Friesland were met not by unwillingness, but by disbelief on the part of the local population. Stories told of deportations and expulsions were simply considered inconceivable. Student rescuers tried to circumvent this obstacle by claiming that the children were war orphans from Rotterdam who needed a break. In the course of time, however, it became clear that the incredible fact of the mass persecution of Dutch Jews was in fact true and with this realization came a willingness to accept Jewish children as such.”

Truly sobering day spent at Auschwitz. For once I was pretty much left without words.
This says it better than I ever could: “It happened, therefore it can happen again: this is the core of what we have to say. It can happen, and it can happen everywhere.”

#auschwitz
Forever let this place be a cry of despair and a warning to humanity, where the Nazis murdered about one and half million men, women, and children. Mainly Jews, from various countries of Europe.
