  • "The moon is a loyal companion.
It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it’s a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human.
Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by its imperfections." ~ Tahereh Mafi 💜 Full Moon Blessings of manifestation and grace to all. 🌕 Beautiful photo by @sigvicious

  • In 2016 I went to visit this hill as my Grandfather has writen in his dairy about the Faliase Gap. He had past throught is after the great battle had ended. He saw the death and destruction at first hand. The whole gap was littered with dead Germans, horses and equipment left behind by the fleeing Germans. Here is a short history of what had happened. Hill 262 as it was known in 1944, or the Mont Ormel ridge (elevation 262 metres (860 ft)). 100,000 retreating soldiers of the German 5th and 7th armies were encircled by the Allies and bombed, shelled and shot into submission. Around 10,000 were killed, 40,000 taken prisoner and 50,000 escaped. There only way out was past this hill being held by the Polish 1st Armoured Division, on the celebrated Montormel. The Poles found themselves cut off from the supporting Canadians - and under assault from all sides. The Germans still within the pocket fought desperately to get out. Meanwhile, the 2nd SS Panzer Korps (which had got out earlier) returned to attack from behind. Short of food and out of munitions, the Poles hung on for two days and two nights, often fighting hand-to-hand. By the end of the battle most Poles had died in combat, but nevertheless held on until relieved by the Canadians. This epic role the Poles played, and many other heroic battles seems to get lost for the larger public. Many nationalities fought in this war, they should not be forgotten.
