  • Happy Saturday! Here’s 3 skills I believe you should learn if you want to be a successful developer, or successful in any career.
-
1. Learn to Begin: The hardest step of any project or assignment is starting. Get that out the way and jump feet first into whatever it is you need to get done. You’ll surprise and impress people with how ahead you are. -
-
2. Learn to Pivot: It’s very difficult to know when something isn’t working for you, or when you feel it’s time to quit. Pivoting to something slightly different is really the ability to adapt to your environment and be successful in any situation. I pivoted in college from CS to Web Dev, which was terrifying! But looking back it was 100% the right thing to do!-
-
3. Learn to Learn: Someone who’s passionate and successful in their career will master the art of continuous learning. Becoming too comfortable in your job or skillset can quickly make you undesirable as a programmer, where languages and frameworks change extremely rapidly. -
-
TLDR: 1. Learn to Begin, 2. Learn to Pivot, 3. Learn to Learn. Enjoy your Saturday 👋🏻 -

  • I rarely share my face on Instagram. I am strong believer in letting my work speak for itself and staying out of the spotlight. But the reality is I also love connecting with others. My wife and I started Park St Studio as a way of creating but also sharing and I am anxious to usher in a new season. We have a lot of exciting things in store and can not wait to build up a community of artists, entrepreneurs, marketers, and dreamers. Thanks for being apart of our journey thus far! #parkststudio (photocred: @madi.robison)

  • What laptop is best for coding?-
-
What mouse should I buy? What monitor is best? These are questions I get a lot on a regular basis and I totally get it. I love sharing with you all the products that I love and ones that have improved my workflow. -
-
But regardless of the pretty setup photos we share or the fancy new monitors we purchase, it’s really important to understand that if you want to code all you need is a laptop or computer and a desire to start learning -
-
A brand new laptop won’t make you write perfect code, and a new desk won’t magically improve your abilities, so don’t sit around and wait until you can buy these things to begin learning. -
-
If you want to start writing code all you need is a computer. Whether it be yours, your moms, your cousins, or one at the library, just get your hands on a computer and you can begin. -
-
Focus on what you’re creating and learning because at the end of the day, the code is what matters, not the laptop it was built on.-

  • Monday before finals MOOD. 🙃 -
-
Let’s talk about how to become the best developer in the room:
-
1. Be able to understand that programming and learning to code is not something you can do in a day, or a week, or even a month. This is very much a turtle and the hare situation, slow and steady will win the race. -
-
2. Do everything in your power to solve a problem before reaching out to others. Not only does it annoy experienced devs when you ask them to solve a simple problem you could have just googled, it’s better for your learning process to grapple through a problem. -
-
Also, know when it’s time to reach out for help when you’re really stuck. Bouncing ideas off of other does help when it’s necessary. -
3. Stay excited and curious in your approach to development. Be open to new languages, and understand that you don’t know everything. Look at languages with an open mind and try to constantly expand your horizons. -
-
4. Get really good at solving problems. Form an analytical mind that works to find the best solution, and then go back and find an even better one. Problem solving skills are one of the most important assets of any developer, because it allows your skills to transcend over any one language or framework. -
-
TL;DR : Learning to code isn’t a race, Learn to struggle with problems before asking for help, Stay excited and curious, Get good at solving problems. 😊👍🏻-

Today I spent my day to do the authentication on my project 👨‍💻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On the server side (#nodejs) I used for the first time the passport.js library, which is very quick to use, with which I have implemented a JWT-based auth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On the client side (#reactjs) I used the axios library with the interceptors to inject my token for each request. Works like a charm. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What do you think about this combo? Personally I love it, first because of the lightness of your code. 😍 And would you be interested in a skeleton of that ? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have a nice evening! 🙃💪 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
