This morning I received this message for a woman who has supported me for years, yet we've never had the chance to meet in person.
Sherri said, "My daughter and I have followed Love Song for years. Last night I lost my beautiful baby girl to a very rare form of melanoma. She was my light and best friend, I know she is in heaven. I miss her so much my mama heart hurts! I bought shirts from you that we wear proudly. I am taking hers and adding it to a quilt I am making with some of her other shirts she loved." ♥️ I am devastated. Her daughter Sherrill, not to be confused with her mothers name Sherri was 38 years old and a mama of three. She had Acral Lentiginous Melanoma that started on her foot October of 2017. After 4 surgeries and 13 wound vac procedures this family thought their daughter's cancer was removed in it's entirety. Just 4 days short of being cancer free for a year they found over 30 more tumors in her brain, lungs, groin and spine. She had 13 rounds of radiation, 3 rounds of immunotherapy and 5 days of chemo but it was too aggressive. Her body just could not take anymore.
Sherri said, "I know she is in heaven with God, with so many babies surrounding her, as she was the baby whisperer and could calm any baby. They love her! We would talk about your clients and you all the time. We would sit on her couch and read your site. You gave her and still give me such inspiration and hope! I will never be able to thank you for how much you touch our lives and we don’t even know you personally!" ♥️ She touched my heart in more ways than one. Today I want to COVER this family in prayer. Friends of Love Song please think of them today. I know this mother will be encouraged to read your messages so please leave her one below. If you wish to send this family a card in comfort please message us for our studio address. ♥️ Together we can be the difference. Daily we here at Love Song are praying for a cure!
Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what kind of patient you’ll get... 😂😂 On a serious note, it’s always heart-warming, refreshing, and humbling to provide care to patients/family members who truly appreciate you. Thankful that I made a difference in this patient’s life. A family member came to work today just to drop this off to say thank you. 😭 Much needed today. 💙💙 #itsthelittlethings#bethedifference#motivation#RNlife
When you show up in life, be the person you needed.
Be the person you needed when your heart was broken.
Be the person you needed when you grieved the loss of someone you cared about.
Be the person you needed during your darkest times.
Be the person you needed when all hope was lost.
Be the person you needed when all you needed was a friendly smile and big hug.
Be the person you needed during your loneliest times.
Be the person you needed when your world was falling apart.
Everyday, through courageously.u, I give you what I needed through all of the above. 💛

♥️Last Night Shenanigans♥️ With the help of my sister I was able to surprise my parents for valentines while I had my own valentines with the sis and it felt so good to see them happy. It was the cutest thing, they would send pictures throughout the night so you know I have to share ! Lol ♥️ They work so hard and get home so late so I wanted to make sure they had a nice Valentine’s Day even if it was just relaxing at home. & of course you know I had to join in on the fun when I got home! 😜
🌈HOW TO BE A HERO HAPPY MAILER🌈
Hello to all of our new friends and followers! I'm pretty excited that so many new lovelies are joining our #herohappymailcommunity
This post will help you find your way just a little easier. I'm also happy to help you at any time too, feel free to DM me. ✳How to Join in✳
Step 1⃣ Read the hero's story. This month this is a post marked with "LUCY'S STORY".
Step 2⃣ After reading the story think about what you could send to make our hero smile. It might be a drawing your child has done, a cute card, or something you have purchased or made yourself. Anything at all that meets the hero's interests and is age appropriate.
Step 3⃣ Pack it up ready to post. Please don't wrap your happy mail, but I am happy to wrap it for you before it reaches our hero if you include a sheet of wrapping paper.
Step 4⃣ Address it with the address in bio, be sure to write - Our Hero Lucy or whoever you're sending to.
Step 5⃣ Add your Instagram username (if you have one) to the return address to make it easy for me to message you to let you know it has arrived.
Step 6⃣ Pat yourself and your family on the back... high five each other... because you have successfully changed the world for one little hero whose journey is pretty tough right now.
Step 7⃣ Enjoy the community of #herohappymailfriends who like making a difference and are all the loveliest lovelies you could ever hope to meet.
Step 8⃣ If you'd like to, Share the Love on your own account or with your neighbours, family and friends. Tag @herohappymail_maitland if you'd like, too.

In 2015 The Love Song Foundation took on this beautiful soul. Meet Elizabeth, now 37 who gave birth to her baby boy 3 years ago. Elizabeth always dreamed of being a mama, her son gives her purpose & a will to fight! Let’s rewind... When Liz was about 24 weeks pregnant she thought was coming down with the flu. Unfortunately the flu like symptoms were actually cancer. Yes, cancer. It was a very rare form of AML, Leukemia. Her baby boy was delivered at 32 weeks & Liz went full throttle on beating this illness. It’s been 1095 days since her entire world was flipped upside down. Since then Liz has had two stem cell transplants with temporary remission, recently underwent a new immunotherapy trial & is currently fighting pneumonia. A scan months ago showed a tumor on her stomach. After many rounds of radiation the tumor has since shrunk & we've moved onto a new plan of action. Everyday is an uphill battle but giving up is not an answer for her. Currently Liz is focusing on smaller tasks like remaining positive & gaining weight. She 5'9, weighing a mere 100 pounds.
An updated scan showed she is currently in remission for the 2nd time… we are all praying this is the end of her leukemia journey & I am remaining hopeful for her.
This has been a very long emotional battle. Liz feels defeated & wants her life back! Cancer has taken so much from this woman & she needs her freedom again. She needs to be healthy for good & she needs her spirits lifted. Liz wants to run and play with her son without feeling as if she can't breath or may throw up.
Please leave Liz a message of encouragement below. If you feel like reaching out further please contact us directly, I want to flood this mama with cards & goodies.
Liz we adore you! Cancer is only going to be a chapter in your life...not the whole story!
