Flint is flying free now and had immediate response to a “mr. Frosty” today. He traded off to the lure perfect, as usual, and has great manners. Here, you can see instinctual, defensive posturing after he spots a raven overhead who wants his meal. He gets very low to the ground over his food. 🍖🦅🐦 #harrishawk#hunting#birds#hawks#falconer#falconry#raptors#birdsofprey
I never thought I would be that crazy bird lady who got excited by backyard birds. While I always enjoyed watching the birds I never paid them much attention. Until my boyfriend decided we needed to put up feeders in my backyard.
Paul loves birds. So part of his reasoning was for himself. Perhaps part was because he knew I needed something to relax me. The result has been that I feed the hordes of winged hippos every morning as soon as I wake up. I wander out in my leopard print jammies in my jacket and boots. My hair is wild and unbrushed. I feed them and revel in how close they let me get now.
I get so excited by the birds now that when I spotted this adorable redpoll while on the phone with my Mom I interrupted the conversation by exclaiming that I finally had a redpoll at my feeders. A redpoll!! My Mom had no idea what I was talking about.
So it is for certain that I have become a crazy bird lady. I feel blessed to wake up to all these wonderful little beauties. I certainly have many sketches involving birds for future art works.
