  • Soaking up the sun and this incredible read before I move to nyc on Wednesday‼️ I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to read Next Year in Havana being that I’m freaking Cuban and grew up in Miami, but better late than never 😍 Have you read this one?

  • Hello Monday from here Dear Friends 💛 how's your Sunday? Well i put aside my phone, my eyes were so tired kept seeing its screen over and over so i just enjoyed my current reads and well I finished 3 books 😂 epss not directly, those were some current reads that I started a few days ago, ahh they were so so good!! One of it was this Jane Eyre! I buddy read this book with my Dearest @bookishkaren 💛 and started it a week ago, well because she hasn't finished the book yet, it's just a bit what I thought about this book, it's really beautiful written, well written! I really admire Charlotte's writing, until it was on my mind during the reading 'her words omg' i just want to read her other works later :'). Jane Eyre is really one of my favorite fictional female characters!!! She is really strong and brave one! One of good things about this book, everything has consequences, whatever you did in the past bad or good, you would get the reward the same as you did. And i rate this 4,5/5 . #blackbookspagesreview •

  • I got the best surprise from one of my coworkers @amy.stephen - look what she brought to work for me and in the middle of a snow storm no less! She knows about my addiction to Kristin Hannah and picked this up for me. And how ADORABLE are these socks? I can’t wait to put them on and read!
.
I love caring for all the babies in the NICU but I love my coworkers even more! Thanks Amy for opening up the world of audiobooks to me and for always being willing to chat books! You are the best and this made my day! ❤️❤️

  • Happy Sunday friends!
.
.
I’m getting my book stack ready for the @24in48 readathon next weekend (January 26th-27th) and these are the top three books on my list — I took part in the July #24in48 readathon, but I only ended up making it 9 hours (and reading two books) before I gave up. Giving this another go in January! (New year, new me. Am I right? Yeah, probably not lol) .
.
.
Anyone else taking part in the @24in48 readathon next weekend? If you are, did you already set your TBR?

  • Cherry by Nico Walker is one wild ride!!
.
Walker penned this nasty novel of druggy debauchery in prison, where he still resides for bank robbery. He's scheduled for release in November 2020. The book is billed as semi-autobiographical and definitely has a real life-lived feel to it. Only someone who has lived this life could write with so much authenticity. This goes for the military aspects as well as the criminal.
.
The writing is very matter of fact, with the tone of a guy telling you a story in a bar. The only scenes described in any great detail are introvenous drug use moments, everything else is a fast moving blur told at a breakneck pace. The story is really just hundreds of little anecdotes strung together, more of a gritty crime memoir than fictional narrative, and I've heard others criticize that aspect. It's all tell and no show, just, then this happened, then this happened, then this happened. But I loved it!!
.
It's like that one crazy friend you have, and you only see him every couple years, and when you do he just unloads a bunch of insanity on you. The way it just poured out, with an almost stream of consciousness quality to the prose, reminded me of the beats, Kerouac and Burroughs' Junkie. A very Irvine Welsh feel to it as well, especially those moments of degenerate pathos, which were my favorite parts.
.
If you're looking for a high-octane drug and crime memoir to lose yourself in, I highly recommend Cherry. Definitely a fun time.

  • “What’s the use of running, if we are on the wrong road.”, “Wintersong” by S. Jae-Jones ❄️💙✨ 🇮🇹: Salve a tutti! 😘✨
🤔 🇬🇧: Hello there, lovelies! 😘✨
How was your “Blue Monday” mine sucked but I kind of expected it...🤣, I hope yours went better! 😉
#eroinesigns2019 “Aquarius: A Book That Made You Feel Trapped” and i immediately thought about “Wintersong” not only because the main characters is actually trapped somewhere, but also because I disliked immensely this book ...🙈
I do have to say that bro the fault is on the book, but the Italian translation was a bit... weird...😅
#bookreadhappyhour “She has eyes like a salamander: Cool Character Descriptions” (guys did you crack a laugh like me, when you heard this in theaters because I remember cackling like a crazy woman, which I am but...🤣), And character description are not he best in “Wintersong” but I loved the description of the setting because I honestly loved Vienna when visiting and Austria seems an amazing country! 😍
#bookqueensjan19 “Most Pivotal Moment: Martin Luther King JR Day” and since I have “Wintersong” in my hands I do think that it is when finally Liesl decides to give to the wilderness, something we should do more often! 😉
#janlitwrit19 “MLKJR Day: Social Justice Reads” and IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE FREAKING THE HATE U GIVE, WHAT ARE YOH WAITING FOR?! 🤔🤣
A book that made you feel trapped? 🤔

  • 🇬🇧 My currently reading is Howl’s Moving Castle and I’m so shocked because it’s so different from the movie 😅 But it’s funny because I don’t remember a lot from it so this is like if I were discovering it for the first time 🙈
How are you? I’m quite nervous cause tomorrow I’m going to ask to start my driving classes and, okay, maybe I’m a little bit scared but it’s what I want to do and have my car to drive with BTS on the CD Player 😂
Q.: If you have to choose a fantasy world from a book to travel for a vacation period, where will you go?
A.: Maybe I will visit Velaris just to enjoy the night view, or Alacante because I’m sure it should be a really beautiful place 😍 But, definetly, I would go to Hogwarts 🙈

  • Buonasera cari lettori, come state?

• Crooked Kingdom, di Leigh Bardugo, in buddy con la @sylexlibris che probabilmente mi odierà per quanto la sto rallentando 💔;
• e The Raven King, di Maggie Stiefvater.
.
Unfortunately, these days I lack the desire to read and this is killing me. I'm seriously thinking about being in a half reading slump, plus these days I'm not satisfied for reasons that prescind reading.
In any case, last week I finished two books:
• Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Brontë, to which I gave 2.5 ⭐
• and In An Absent Dream, by Seanan McGuire, to which I gave 4 ⭐.
This week instead I'm reading:
• Crooked Kingdom, by Leigh Bardugo, in buddy with @sylexlibris , who will probably hate me for I am slowing her down so much 💔;
• Lady Audley's Secret, by Mary Elizabeth Braddon, for an English literature exam
• and The Raven King, by Maggie Stiefvater.
.
what do you do to escape a reading slump?

    • Jane Eyre, di Charlotte Brontë, a cui ho dato 2.5 ⭐
    • e In An Absent Dream, di Seanan McGuire, a cui ho dato ben 4 ⭐.
    Questa settimana invece sto leggendo:
    • Crooked Kingdom, di Leigh Bardugo, in buddy con la @sylexlibris che probabilmente mi odierà per quanto la sto rallentando 💔;
    • Lady Audley's Secret, di Mary Elizabeth Braddon, per un esame di letteratura inglese

    This week instead I'm reading:
    • Crooked Kingdom, by Leigh Bardugo, in buddy with @sylexlibris , who will probably hate me for I am slowing her down so much 💔;
    • Lady Audley's Secret, by Mary Elizabeth Braddon, for an English literature exam
    • and The Raven King, by Maggie Stiefvater.
    .
#qotd : come fate per evitare di finire in reading slump? / what do you do to escape a reading slump?

  • Do you stick to a theme with your IG feed? Lolololol, I don’t know if I’ve ever stuck to a “theme” for more than a month or two since I started this account. Sadly, I think the longest “theme” I had was back when this account was just me taking photos of the book I was currently reading next to the pints and whiskey shots I was drinking. But I’m hoping my current one sticks because I’m really liking it. “Hello Darkness, my old friend…” *me singing to myself as I scroll through all my upcoming pics*
------
#somethingslayedjan19 | Once more, with feeling! : Second Chance Series | Look, I love Bargudo’s writing but the Grisha Trilogy just didn’t click with me when I first read Shadow and Bone. But as I’ve stated many times, after reading the WONDERFULNESS that is Six of Crows, I gave GT another try and finished it. GT was good, but I’ll always be more of a SoC/CK fan.
#bookqueensjan19 | Most pivotal moment | The moment Sturmhond shows up
#bookreadhappyhour | “She has eyes like a salamander.” Cool Character descriptions
#januarybookishgirls19 | Forgiveness: Books in less than perfect condition
#grimdragon | Don’t Monday too hard: Do whatever you want
#janinbooks19 | Favorite King or Prince | no spoilers, but if you’ve read it, you know who...
#allthebooksjan19 | Recommend your favorite books
#bookstababesjan19 | leading characters
#fireheartjan19 | intriguing synopsis

🌸
Voi l’avete mai letto? Trovate interessante questo genere?🌸

  • I’ve determined this year to take the time to read more. To make a conscious effort to put the time aside to learn more, be still, and enjoy the pleasure of a good read.
✨
I read 55 books in 2017 and this past year I really dropped the ball but I want to do better in 2019. I know things will look a bit different since I have an infant now, I but I feel it’s so important to take the time to sit down and breathe and open the page to another world that awaits us to discover it.
✨
So here’s to reading more in 2019 and blogging about my monthly reads again! What are you excited about reading this year? I’d love to hear!

  • “I should like to bury something precious in every place where I've been happy and then, when I'm old and ugly and miserable, I could come back and dig it up and remember.”
Evelyn Waugh, Brideshead Revisited: The Sacred and Profane Memories of Captain Charles Ryder ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨My friend @sarahs89reads recently posted about the #readingbannedbookschallenge and I immediately thought of one of my favorite classics, Brideshead Revisited. Will you join in with this challenge? I plan on revisiting Brideshead, as well as some other banned books. QOTD: do you have a favorite banned book?
