It’s been a busy start to the weekend at Kilsunny with three calves born on the farm in the last 48 hours.
The first cow (and pick of the three) is one of our 10,000 litre cows, Kilsunny Ruby 97 VG89 who won the 2016 Irish Friesian Heifer of the Year & 2017 Irish Friesian Junior Cow of the Year on the back of her 1st and 2nd lactation milk yields respectively. Last year, she produced 10,400 litres (2250 gallons) at 3.60% protein and 750 combined milk solids.
The middle cow is a promising young cow from our Trump family. This one is already classified VG85 and is a daughter of the four time IHFA All-Ireland Senior Friesian Cow of the Year Nominee, Kilsunny Trump 30 EX92 5E who is currently one of our highest classified cows in the herd and due her 9th calf later in the Spring.
The third cow hails from our Judy cow family and has produced protein up to 3.70% with milk yields up to 8000 litres. This mature cow has a 12 month old grandson (out of a 3.60% protein 2nd calver) available now.
All three cows and calves are doing brilliantly and we’re so happy to see the milking parlour getting busy again ☺️ #holstein#britishfriesian#cows#calf#bull#heifers#calves#dairy#teamdairy#calving#calvingseason#dairyfarming#dairycows#animals#nofilter#picoftheday#teamkilsunny#kilsunnyruby97#kilsunny
