  • I am often asked, “How will your children receive post secondary education living off grid?” As many of you know, we left Alberta on May 23rd last year, and embarked on this journey that was 100% God led; not Seb & Tasha led 😬. We are 1.25 hours from the post office & fuel and 2.5 hours to the closest location for us to buy organic groceries & building supplies.

So this is a good question, and something we have never worried about even before living off grid. Our philosophy has never been to groom our children for college & university, but rather train them up & groom them to love people, love their siblings, love themselves, be servants, rather than to be served. To be like our finest example...Christ. That was and is our first priority. As God has guided us as parents, we have always invested in each of our children by asking them where their interests lie. Then exhaust those interests by way of learning. Some interests were fun to pursue for a time, some interests weren’t something we’d consider and some interests have sparked a serious love in a certain area.

Holly...she’s our second oldest, and at 16 years old has already “graduated” from highschool this fall. When Holly was 13 & Jynae was 15, we decided that herbalism would be a great science for that year. So we invested in two really good online courses. The following year, both girl’s took a biology science course, and through those 2 years Holly developed an insatiable appetite for learning how to treat & heal the body naturally (a natural passion of mine too). At 13 years old she found her purpose.

Today, Holly is still pursuing herbalism, and has just signed up for Herbal Academy’s Clinical Herbalist program to continue her education.
As I prepare to launch our family ministry this spring, all of the kid’s & Seb will have their part in it & my dream of our family working together for 1 purpose, which is to glorify God, is coming to fruition as He has led.

Pro 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” Give your children vision & they will flourish (and sending them into the world isn’t always necessary) ☺️.

  • What a special day in the desert! We get snow every once in a while, but it never really sticks - except for today! The desert is always full of surprises and we are grateful for them all ❄️ 🌵#snowinthedesert #lifeatcactusmountain

  • My favorite little pit stop on the way to Mount Hood
•
Not only is SkyWay, the most picturesque cabin restaurant in the world but they have some incredible food. As a meat-lover trying to reduce my carbon footprint by eating less meat, I tried the Impossible Burger and was pleasantly surprised. Paired it with the Garlic Fries (a MUST) and a cold beer. Such a perfect treat for this Friday Eve.
