Meanwhile in Equatorial Guinea.... I hopped in a car and drove to the most remote parts of #Bioko Island with no idea what I’d discover. I met this lady and her friends, who welcomed me inside their traditional houses (wooden huts). I told her in Spanish (yes, they speak Spanish here) that I wanted to experience her rituals. So she gave me a glass of ocean water to drink — straight from the ocean — and then put red clay all over my face. That’s all I have to say! Famous Congolese musician Koffi Olomide faces prison sentence for up to 7 years for allegedly kidnapping, assaulting his four backup dancers. The incidents reportedly took place between 2002 to 2006 in France. This isn't the first time Olomide has been accused of similar crimes, in recent past the Kenyan authorities arrested, detained and deported the Congolese icon, for allegedly assaulting his backup dancers. Olomide returned home to similar accusations against him.

Kenule Beeson “Ken” Saro-Wiwa was a Nigerian writer, television producer, environmental activist, and winner of the Right Livelihood Award and the Goldman Environmental Prize. He saw his oil rich homeland being destroyed and fought both the government and multinational oil companies who were extracting oil and dumping waste there. As spokesperson, and then as president, of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP), Saro-Wiwa led a nonviolent campaign against environmental degradation of the land and waters of Ogoni land especially the Royal Dutch Shell company. He spoke against lax regulation by the Nigerian government who he felt turned a blind eye to the oil dumping. At the peak of his non-violent campaign, he was tried by a special military tribunal for allegedly masterminding the gruesome murder of Ogoni chiefs at a pro-government meeting, and hanged in 1995. Pada tahun 2019 ini, Polri menambah jumlah keterlibatan dalam berkontribusi menjaga perdamaian dunia. Satgas Garuda Bhayangkara Formed Police Unit (FPU) 1 MINUSCA, Satgas Garuda Bhayangkara II Formed Police Unit (FPU) 11 UNAMID dan IPO Polri pada misi MONUSCO, merupakan bukti nyata kepercayaan PBB kepada Indonesia melalui Polri. FPU 1 Minusca, merupakan misi baru Polri di Republik Afrika Tengah yang memiliki spesifikasi khusus yang tidak dimiliki oleh FPU dari negara lain di misi seluruh dunia. Kemampuan tersebut adalah kemampuan SWAT Team. Tim dengan kemampuan khusus dan diperlengkapi dengan perlengkapan khusus menjadi unggulan FPU Indonesia yang akan bertugas di Republik Afrika Tengah. Kemampuan lainnya adalah penguasaan bahasa Perancis dan bahasa Inggris. Misi MINUSCA adalah misi Francophone yang menggunakan bahasa Perancis sebagai bahasa resmi di daerah misi.
Penyiapan FPU 1 Minusca memakan waktu lebih dari 1 (satu) tahun, karena Polri memiliki MoU dengan PBB dengan sistem Wet Lease yaitu pengadaan semua material dan logistik kebutuhan FPU disiapkan oleh negara kontributor sesuai standar yang telah ditetapkan oleh PBB yang tertuang dalam Statement Unit Requirement (SUR) dan kemudian PBB akan membayar sewa pada setiap jenis dan kemampuan personel FPU.

Tonga Turner has gone down in history as the first African-American to be elected as Mayor/President of the Board of Town Commissioners in the United States. This phenomenal happening took place in the historic town of Upper Malboro Maryland, Prince Georges County after the 2018 Board of Commissioners elections.
Elected into office on January 8th 2018 by the residents of the town of Upper Malboro, MD, TONGA Turner who hails from #Cameroon in #CentralAfrica further got chosen in the Council of Commissioners as the President/Mayor of the Council. She will be running a 2 year term alongside her colleagues.
Within the first year of her term, Turner has been credited for her commitment in improving the Upper Malboro’s Town Services (Police, Public Works, Code Enforcement), Community Outreach, Community Events & building stronger relations with the county & State’s partners. She looks forward to commencing the redevelopment of Upper Malboro Downtown Area, building the town Community Playground & work to expand limits to provide the residents of the town with access to the town’s superior municipal services before the end of her term.
