Meet Avo the astronaut, one of many characters from Danny’s marvelous tale. Avo and his friends have finally arrived! As I head to the warehouse to pick up my first picture book, I really wish I could defy gravity like this little guy from “Get Back in the Book!” How adorable is Emma Chadwick’s illustration of Avo?
Hello frens 🧡 The past few days I worked on a redraw of one of my older pieces. The biggest difference is that I am less scared of drawing backgrounds and using actual colours. All of my older coloured pieces used to be graphite sketches only. I still have a long way to go, and a lot of things to learn. Even though my redraw isn’t perfect at all, it shows my progress - and that’s what I want to share with you! .
I had no idea when I popped this little info post up on the News page of my website just how many people from all over the world would read it every day. It’s lovely to receive emails from quite a few of them each week, and as most people are asking one question I decided to update the post. 🖋 I’ve now included links to resources listing publishers who are happy to look at submissions direct from the creator. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Many thanks to @jackieannehosking for her beautifully comprehensive list of Australian publishers currently accepting unsolicited manuscripts. Yet another amazing resource for emerging authors and illustrators. 👏🏻
If anyone knows of such publisher lists from other countries, I’d love to hear. I’ve also found lists of UK and US publishers so far. Thanks!

A lil illustration for a big project I'm working on with a printing company and a few classmates!
This school year feels like its winding down to a close, and it's making me really nostalgic for my 4 years at CIA! I've grown as a person and an artist so much here and I'll miss it like crazy when I leave. And I'll miss the people like crazy, but hopefully we'll run into each other in the art world someday! Making the best of my senior year while I can!!
I’ve had quite a few people check in on me since Christmas... and I just want to say thank you. I’ve been running on empty through the holiday season and I’m just starting to feel normalish again. Anxiety and PTSD have a funny way of slipping in when you should be at your happiest... and that’s exactly what happened. Plus a few health issues and you can understand why I have been distant. I’ve still been working on emote commissions and some other projects here and there, and the other day was the first time I’ve drawn, for me, in ages. Then, because I was in the children’s section of the library, two young girls came over to talk to me about their favourite books and I got to teach them how to draw cats. The parents suggested I should teach art... and now I have been thinking about talking to the library about setting up a class, once a week. The idea would be me teaching small kids how to draw different thing I drew over and over at their age. It’s something I have wanted to do for a while.. so it might be in the stars shortly, just bare with as I rediscover my path.💛 #update#kidlitartist#kidlitart#artist#childrensbookillustration
