Mahanakhon, the tallest building in Thailand (314 meters of glass and steel), recently opened its doors to visitors. And it so happened that an old friend of mine was in town this weekend and wanted to see the place, so off we went to explore what it has to offer. The experience is similar to that of KL Towers: buy a ticket, have a few green screen photos taken, go up, go down, buy the photoshopped pictures upon exit, go home and cherish the memories. What makes it different from Petronas Towers is that you have an option of going all the way to the rooftop on the 78th floor, complete with a DJ, a bar, a glass floor terrace and open-air panoramic views of Bangkok. Is it a tourist trap? Definitely! But is it worth a visit? I’d say, yes, just once, at sunset ✅ .
