St. Irene Church, which was constructed in 330s and placed in outer court of Topkapı Palace, is the first church of Byzantium. The church was used as an arsenal during Ottoman era. Also it became the first museum in the history by being used as a gun museum since 1846. After 1949, the church lost its museum statute and has been forgotten until its magnificent acoustic has been discovered.
Since 1983, it has been being used for International Istanbul Music Festival, art activities, opera, concerts and arias because of its gorgeous acoustic performance. It is an irreplaceable place for unforgettable concerts and art artistic shows. This historical atmosphere gives magical moments to audience. -
Topkapı Sarayı’nın dış avlusunda bulunan, 330’lu yıllarda yapılan Aya İrini Kilisesi, Bizans’ın ilk kilisesi olarak bilinir. Osmanlı döneminde ise cephanelik ve silah müzesi olarak kullanıldığı bilinen tarihin ilk müzesi, 1949’dan sonra müze işlevini kaybetmiş ve unutulmuştur. Ta ki muhteşem akustiği keşfedilinceye kadar.
