Today happens to be both Martin Luther King day and my bday. New York is so quiet with many people having a sweet day off. It’s my first time spending a birthday away from family and friends in a new city with no one close around me. I thought I’d feel a lil lonely and forgotten, but I just feel grateful and humbled. I woke up at 5am, read the news in a warm bed, prayed my sunnah and Fajr, which I haven’t in a looong time, took time for renewed duas as I begin a new year. I took a long a$$ shower, scrubbed my skin, put on a face mask, applied the 63 creams I have (little exaggeration) and will probably breakout as my skin will be like what the fudge does this girl want! (everything skin, I want everything), went to work *early*, listened to a podcast of tuskless elephants, ate a spicy ramen that properly set my organs on fire and will finish my day with 2.5 hours of dancing and core fitness workout. All the while almost crying at every little bday wishes I received. Life is sweet and laughter is my favorite thing. Bask in all of it my people. Happy MLK day friends and happy bdays to all my January winter baby friends.
