- TIMES SQUARE - Surely one of the highlights of New York City and certainly one of the most recognisable cityscapes, Times Square is an entertainment, business and tourist hub in Midtown Manhattan.
Located at the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue, Times Square stretches from West 42nd to West 47th Streets. The lights, billboards and video screens have led to the neighbourhood being referred to as ‘The Centre of the Universe’ and ‘The Crossroads of the World’. The visual effects of Times Square are more vivid at night and many tourists explore the sites after dark therefore swelling the numbers even further. I was no different!
Times Square is one of the busiest pedestrian areas in the World and is the hub of the Broadway Theater District. One of the World’s most visited tourist attractions, the intersection draws approximately 50 million visitors annually with around 330,000 people passing through the famous sights daily.
New York is known as the City that Never Sleeps. Here is the proof!
The geography nerd in me loves state capitols and is on a mission to visit every capitol building in the country. So obviously I had to kick off my Texas trip with a visit to the capitol building in Austin 😀
Just an hour away from the bright lights of the Las Vegas Strip lies Valley of Fire State Park. Consisting of bright red Aztec sandstone outcrops nestled in gray and tan limestone mountains. The sandstone is from the Jurassic period and is the remnant of the sand left behind by the wind after inland seas subsided and the land rose.
