  • LOVE YOURSELF. Love every imperfection & see the beauty in them. My tummy is full of stretch marks, I could spend the rest of my life trying to hide them. I could never wear crop tops or two piece bathing suits. Or I could choice to embrace my body the way it is & truly love myself. It is not easy by any means! But I know I deserve to love myself & have no shame about my body. ✨

  • It’s that time of year again! 🔥 As much as I LOVED having a break and amazing holiday, my mind and body are so ready to get back into dancing this week and train for the 2019 Canberra Multicultural Festival in February! Throwback to last year after the street parade 💃🏻 Samba and dancing is for EVERY BODY ❤️

  • There are two beautiful works of art in this photo.⠀
One is a watercolor piece my son made for me when he was 5 years old. It serves as a daily reminder for me, as I face this mirror and get ready each morning.⠀
•
The second work of art is the woman in the mirror.
Sculpted by a life lived; Motherhood, diet culture addiction, binge-eating disorder recovery, movie snacks, gym sessions, and so much more!⠀
The smile painted there is genuine, but it wasn't always...⠀
I bought my first magazine at 12 years old, my first cellulite cream at 13, stretch mark cream soon after, and countless anti-aging creams since. MANY of which were from the very brand that recently advertised with "Dimples are cute on your face (not on your thighs).⠀
•
Truth be told, my thigh cellulite is the part of my body that bothers me more than anything else, because even after losing 80 pounds, I STILL had these frowned-upon dimples. I probably ALWAYS WILL. I've spent the majority of my life allowing my physical "flaws" impair my value. Some of you can't imagine what it takes to undo 25+ years of body dysmorphia.⠀
•
Every day, I use affirmations to work towards self love. I've made immense strides towards loving the work of art that is my body, and am appalled that this ad campaign was passed by a board of however many men and women, in an era of body positivity.⠀
•
So I raise my voice now, for those of you struggling with your dimples. You are not any less beautiful of a man or woman for having them. Don't waste your energy (or money) troubling over something so minute - I guarantee you have much larger things to invest yourself in.⠀
•
No matter how many of us dimpled, body-positive warriors speak up, diet culture and those magazine beauty standards will NEVER disappear. But we can make a difference... The company that released this ad listened to the outraged and removed the message from this and future campaigns.⠀
•
We can raise our children and ourselves to high standards of acceptance appreciation for all shapes and sizes. Focus on health over appearance and spread positivity. The future can be bright AND dimpled.

  • When I was in middle school we had to read “The Diary of Anne Frank.” What was the most striking thing to me about the diary is that as you read the book you are going day by day with Anne and her family. ⠀
⠀
⠀
The story of what happened to Jews in the holocaust guts you because you are connected to the story of one person. Anne was able to be relatable to many of us because we had to read it around the same age as she was writing the journal . ⠀
⠀
We weren't in her time period or even country but we felt she was like a neighbor. ⠀
⠀
⠀
A large component of my 30 day experience is to jot down your emotions, goals, and life experiences . Basically journaling helps you construct your story. One day the pages will be the building blocks to an epic tale. Your story. ⠀
⠀
⠀
What you’ve been through will some day serve as motivation for someone needs to keep going. Because of you they can. Stories matter. ⠀

Part of me is embarrassed to post this, and then there’s another part of me that just wants to say fuck it... .
.
The only reason I’m embarrassed of this photo... is my cellulite 🤷🏻‍♀️which I’m learning, is NOTHING to feel shameful of... it’s like someone being embarrassed to have curly hair for example... it’s just a normal thing 🤷🏻‍♀️
It’s just that cellulite is portrayed in the media as “bad” or “undesirable” 🙄
.
.
Previously, I would have seen these pictures, and deleted them straight away, with no second thoughts.. but I’m trying to tell myself, that it’s silly to do that for something so normal and so minor 🤷🏻‍♀️
.
.
As much as I wish I could have perfectly smooth skin, and a perfectly round bum 🍑 (I hate the area where the top of my thigh meets my bum🙄) I DON’T... and plenty of other gals also don’t... and I find people hiding these parts of themselves that they are “ashamed” or “embarrassed” of.. only makes other people with the same things feel more alone🤷🏻‍♀️
.
.
So to anyone with cellulite on their bum or the back of their thighs... I feel you! Sometimes it might make you doubt yourself, but I can assure you, that it does not make you less beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️#bopo #bodypositivity #health #edrecovery #edfighter #edwarrior #mentalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalwellbeing #recovery #healing #positivity #haes #healthateverysize #embracethesquish #effyourbeautystandards #realrecovery
