We’re so focused on the personal goals we’ve set for ourselves that we often forget to take a little break and appreciate the simplest things in life.

Ever since I can remember, I have struggled with the image of myself and not just my physical reflection. I have always had this desire to feel comfortable within myself. In that, I have had these wild daydreams of becoming something but I never had that self belief to make it happen. •
Twin Rocks at Onomea Bay.
Legend has it that one day, a chief of the village spotted many canoes with sails heading shoreward in their direction. Fearing an attack, the chiefs and village elders held a council to determine a course of action. They decided to build a reef to prevent a landing on their beaches. Not having the means to complete the task quickly enough, they asked for two young lovers to be the guides and protectors of the village by giving their lives. Two willing individuals were found.
That night a decree was sent to all who lived at Kahali'i to remain indoors from sunset to sunrise without making any light or sound, on penalty of death. In the light of the new day, everyone went down to the shoreline where they were amazed to find the lovers gone, and in their place two gigantic rock formations at the entrance of the Bay, attached to each other, as if on guard.
The chief informed the people that no canoe could now pass the treacherous currents swirling around the rocks unless allowed to do so by the guardians. The lovers and their offspring still stand today, sentinels at the head of the Bay.

how insane it is that sometimes, we are often uncomfortable with ourselves, with how we come across or look or act ~
but once we come to our own and sit and converse with ourselves (how are you feeling?, what do you wanna eat that is good for you?, let’s rest a bit) ~ it’s here that we get to know our inner being and become closer to ourselves, elevating not only our knowledge of self, but spiritual knowledge also
it is not only a state of being in my eye, but a tool on which we can rely on ~ for with it we are able to see much further and deeper than we could dream
It’s not always all about waterfalls down here! Yesterday at the Maui Oceanfront Marathon, we volunteered to keep runners fed, hydrated, and medaled 🏃♂️🏃♀️🍍💦🏅 We might not have run 26 miles but 8 hours on our feet in the sun tending to hundreds of runners felt like a real workout!! 😅
