  • photo by @andrea_frazzetta // Young fishermen returning to the island of Nosy Iranja. Nosy Iranja is located north-west of Madagascar, 45 kilometers (30 miles) from Nosy Be. The archipelago of Nosy Be is one of the top destinations in Madagascar, its islands blessed with gorgeous beaches, corals, tropical forests, and a slow and easy pace of life.
The Nosy Be archipelago is home to the Sakalava people, once part of a powerful kingdom that ruled much of western Madagascar. Today, the Sakalava are known for their seafaring abilities and their women’s elaborate face-painting designs. Several small fishing villages dot the islands.

  • I think about the beautiful places I’ve been and the people I’ve gone with. Each adventure I’ve documented in pictures, has a precious place in my heart. I remember belly laughter at nothing, utter exhaustion, the life questions, the spontaneous adventures, being clueless with no plan but enjoying every minute of it. I love these moments. And these moments are what I’ll carry for the rest of my life. And these moments I’ll share with my little ones one day. I’ll teach them of all the things I learned on these adventures. I’ll encourage them to embrace when things go wrong, and laugh at how silly your trip might end up. But most of all I’ll teach them to cherish the relationships they built. I’ll tell them to hold tight to them. To nurture and care for them. And I’ll remind them that a friend you can travel with, walk life with, rejoice in the good times with, cry in the hard times with, pray with ... is a friend for life.
