  • The water in Rio Celeste really is this blue 👌🏼 (read why)
———————————————
We almost skipped this stop. 1.5 hour drive from our hotel, and 4-5 hours after until our next stop. To be honest the journey through the country was half the fun. The color appears when two rivers meet. Silicon coated minerals mix with oxygen and aluminum and the reflection ends up being turquoise. Unfortunately no swimming is allowed. The story of our trek will suffice. @southwestair #southweststorytellers #contest ————————————————————————

  • Day 7 in Costa Rica! 🌿🌿 Check out my stories for more pictures!
.
.
This morning we left San Jose at 4am to go visit the national park Manuel Antonio in Puntarenas. We were not supposed to go there, but I really wanted to see the beach only a little! 🏝
.
.
This park is amazing. So we had to go really early because they limit the amount of people accepted in the park, so that the animals are not too disturbed. This national park is part of the 36% of Costa Rica that is protected. If you talk too loud, you get kicked out. Flash on your camera? Kicked out. Try to interact with the animals? Kicked out. All to keep the wildlife as pure and relaxed as possible. .
.
During our hike, we saw toucans, sloths, deers, iguanas, an agouti (I had no idea what that was), a bunch of butterflies, racoons and monkeys. We also saw the most magnificent views of the pacific ocean 🏞
.
.
Then we had a bit of time to enjoy the beach. Monkeys and racoons kept trying to steal people's stuff. At one point, my boyfriend was pulling at one end of my backpack while a sneaky racoon was pulling at the other end and growling 😅😅 sneaky little bastards. .
.
On our way back to San Jose, we stopped at a bridge, surrounded by a protected area where crocodiles like to hang out. They like to hang out there because people used to throw them food 😑🤦‍♀️

  • Ostional beach – This is one of our favorite beaches of Guanacaste, definitely is not the most beautiful beach that you can visit in Costa Rica, however, this is one of the most important ones for scientific/biology field.
.
Mainly, because every month this place gets full of turtle that will cover it all across in the 7km long that this beach has.
.
Also, this place has a really important meaning for Ligia since her dad worked as biologist over there for 16 years.
