This combo is so darn tasty and SATISFYING...plus, it comes together FAST! So, make it for lunch or dinner today, double the recipe, and store the extra servings - so your next few days are simpler! }
makes 4 servings
2 pounds large shrimp, deveined and peeled
2 cups cherry tomatoes, cut into quarters
1 large avocado, pitted and chopped
4 green onions, chopped
2 fresh limes, juiced
1 handful fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
1 Tbsp avocado oil, or extra virgin olive oil
sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
lime wedges, to garnish
2 cups cooked brown rice
for the BBQ spice mix:
1 Tbsp. smoked paprika
1 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp cayenne powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp sea salt, or to taste
In a large glass mixing bowl place shrimp and BBQ seasoning ingredients and gently stir well to combine.
Set aside for just a few minutes.
In another bowl, add chopped tomatoes, avocado, onions, cilantro, lime juice, sea salt and pepper. Very gently toss to combine.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side or until they've turned pink and form a nice lightly charring in spots as pictured.
Add 1/2 cup cooked brown rice to each bowl or meal prep container.
Then divide the cooked shrimp and avocado salsa equally, and nicely among the 4 bowls, or meal prep containers as shown.
Serve immediately, or refrigerate for up to 3 days.

🔥Morning or Evening Workouts🔥
First thing is first...whether you workout in the morning or evening or anywhere in between, the fact that you're getting one in is what matters. Some people will say the morning is better because of XY and Z and others will say the evening is better, but truthfully it is what you prefer and your preference!
However, there are benefits and detriments to working out at different times of the day! Working out in the morning is a great way to start the day, kicks up your metabolism to a whole new level of burning, is usually when you're the most awake to get it done, and definitely gets you energized for the rest of the day not to mention it's over and done with and you don't have to worry about it later! However, you have less food in you, thus less fuel, and if you're not an early bird, you're probably not going to have too much fun doing it bright and early😂
On the other hand, working out in the evening is one of the best destressers from the day, you'll be able to lift more from the additional good in your system (more food means more fuel) and you can sleep in an extra hour or so, but you may have to push through fatigue that you gained throughout the day and psychologically it is a bit harder to have gone through a whole work day, still knowing that you have to workout.
Regardless of when you did it, there is going to be benefits and detriments! I personally prefer the morning if my schedule allows it and it is something I can stick to in the long term! Remember, consistency is what is important! .

Losing weight is a mental fight because the hardest thing to do is accept that we HAVE TO change! It’s easy to refute what people think because no matter how you feel in your skin there will always be someone to think bad of you. But there’s nothing worse than the judgment one has of oneself. Nothing worse than hating your own reflection. So you have to change for yourself!
I decided to change because my appearance didn’t match my personality. Losing weight has been a mental fight more than a physical one. It showed me aspects of my personality I didn’t know. This fight made me more confident, more mature and stronger.
Ask yourself everyday if you are the best version of yourself (physically and spiritually). If not, it’s not too late to change. It’s NEVER impossible.

Throwback to my 7 day shred 2 years ago. I’ve been out of the gym the last week due to a back injury but the bulk is strong. Looking forward to another 7 day shred I’ll probably do around 180.
Legs and abs are still REALLY sore from yesterday. I probably did too high volume for abs. Anyways here’s today’s push day routine. If you get a chance to hit the gym, definitely try this out!
Time: 1 hour 58 minutes
PUSH DAY ROUTINE:
Olympic bar bench press 1 x 20
Wide grip bench press 1 x 20
Close grip bench press 1 x 20
Bench press 4 x 8-10, 2 x 5-7 RM
Dumbbell flyes 5 x 8-10
Barbell tricep extension flat bench 5 x 12-13
Barbell Lateral raises forward grip 5 x 12
Dumbbell Arnold press 5 x 8-10
Dips 5 x failure
💭Motivation can be a powerful thing, it can be the force that drives us to keep working towards our goals. However, here's the problem with motivation: It's fleeting. I highly doubt that anyone feels motivated every single day of their lives. Even the most motivated people on the planet likely have moments where their motivation is non-existent. Does that mean you just don't show up on those days? No.
💭Imagine if we only did things on the days that we felt like it. What if we only showed up to work on the days that we really, truly felt like it? What if we only paid bills on the months that we genuinely felt like it? What if we only stopped to put gas in our car only when we felt like it? Now, try looking at your training in the same way.
💭If you really, truly want to reach your goals (whether they're weight related goals, health related goals, or physique related goals), learning to train on the days when you don't feel like it is essential, and will arguably be one of the biggest keys to your success. It's okay to have days when you don't feel motivated or excited to train (I have these days myself.) But get it done anyway. And remember that even a mediocre workout beats no workout at all.

Isn’t it crazy, how we have so much freedom, so much available to us, almost an overwhelming amount of options - yet we often feel so powerless.

Well, let me tell you - anything worth having in life is not gonna be easy.
Deciding to take control of my life has been the scariest, hardest, yet most amazing journey. I wake up and feel excited to live. Excited for what the day has to offer. There are so many new opportunities and experiences waiting!
I can choose to wake up and think about my problems. Think about things in the past that I miss or regret. Think about current struggles I’m facing. Or even worry about things that haven’t even happened yet. And trust me, I DEFINITELY DO ALL OF THIS.
But it’s not about suppressing those feelings or brushing problems under the rug. It’s solely about having control over your own mind and continuing to CHOOSE your thoughts. Once I started to figure this out, everything changed.
It’s still a work in progress, and something I practice every single day. But just like the body, the mind also has to be trained. You’re not going to see changes overnight. It’s a process, and you just need to be patient and trust that it WILL work.
I’m deciding to take control of my life and truly become the greatest version of myself that I know I am. One day at a time, but each day means one step closer to my greatest self, and I truly can’t wait to meet her.
Don’t let another day go by not living to your fullest, truest potential that you KNOW is in you. You can change your life as soon as you decide. You just have to DECIDE. ✨
