  • Our #TuesdayTip is all about herbs and spices. We all know herbs and spices are great for enhancing the flavour of your meals. Here's our tip on when to use them.

1. 🌿 There are two types of herbs, fresh and dried! Fresh herbs include basil, cilantro, parsley, mint. Dried herbs include rosemary, oregano, and thyme.

2. 🥩 The best time to use dried herbs is during the cooking process. That way it gives it time for the flavours to infuse with the dish.

3. 🍳 Fresh herbs are best used at the end of cooking, preferably 10-20 minutes before the dish is done, or as a garnish.

4. 🔥 Adding spices are a great way to enhance a flavour. You can also create your own by mixing different spices together!

5. 😋 We love mixing smoked paprika, dry madras curry, and maple syrup to infuse in our plank salmon.

TOMATOES:

Although commonly categorised as a vegetable, this fruit (which is technically a berry), is high in dietary fibre and antioxidants. The most noteworthy antioxidant is lycopene, which has been linked to heart heath and a reduced risk of some cancers. •20 calories / 100g
•94% water 
Great source of: •Vitamins A, B6, C & K
•Folate (B9)
•Manganese
•Potassium

Tomatoes may: •Lower cholesterol and decrease the risk of heart disease.
•Reduce inflammation, oxidative stress and the risk of breast, prostate, stomach & lung cancers.
•Protect the integrity of blood vessels and prevent the risk of blood clots.
•Improve skin health and prevent the early signs of aging.
•Prevent macular degeneration, cataracts and blindness.
