There have been bees in every corner of my studio for a little over six weeks now, it is hard to imagine how quiet it will be without their hum and whirling presence.
This pillow was a gift from the mother of a good friend, sent to me after the first iteration of the Honeybee Collection. A remarkable lady in the breadth of her caring. She keeps a kind eye on all of us around her and rejoices in our accomplishments.
Reading about the honeybees has me even more in awe of females. Did you know that honeybees are matriarchal? All the honey of the world and the fruit of honeybee pollination are the good work of females. Endlessly burdened by pollen and braving the wide unknowns for the good of the hive. Tending, gathering, and protecting all her days. Is there anything more like a mother than a honeybee? I tend to think not.

Possibly the cheekiest baby in the world... 🥰 We spent a lovely couple of hours at Dartington this morning: we watched one of our favourite local theatre companies perform in the woods before Arthur disappeared off to learn how to make charcoal and I followed this one as he carved his own path through the trees ❤️
