After the less than ideal preparation on the morning of race day (see previous post) I tried to clear the head and focus on what I had come here to do: Race.
Due to an influx of sea urchins on the ocean floor (did I mention I managed to stand on one and some of their little spikes embedded in my foot just to add to the dramas of the day) the swim had been changed to a rolling start - letting two people within the AG off at a time in 5second intervals. I was happy with this. Less likely to be kicked in the head! The downside were things spread out and there went too many feet to find. I had an uneventful swim and was 2minutes quicker than last year with a PB. Good start.
Running in to transition stripping my wetsuit off I was praying the battery pack had charged my gears sufficiently whilst I was swimming. Time would tell. I figured the quicker I rode the less time there would be for more mechanical issues. So, I pushed it hard and tried to be consistent. The weather was perfect and the wind low. I played cat and mouse with a few other athletes along the way. Came off the bike a minute quicker than 2018.
I’ve never been so happy to start running (this is very rare 🤣). Figured all I had to do now was just keep in a good head space and down my nutrition and fluids to get that ice cream at the finish line 🙊 The first 12k felt good then the undulating hills (which felt like mountains) started to hurt. I managed to hold it together and emptied the tank to the finish line. So much so two medics came to check me over.
Little did I know I had been holding down third place until the final 2km. I ended up just 13 seconds back in 4th. Who knows if I would have held on to 3rd if I’d known.
Despite just missing the podium I was pumped (and emotional) to achieve a 70.3 distance PB.
What a rollercoaster. For 20mins I didn’t think I was racing. For the next 90mins I didn’t know if my bike would be charged enough. For 5hrs I emptied the tank and came away emotionally wrecked but grinning from ear to ear!
The toughest part of yesterday was getting a Roll Down spot to the World Champs in Nice, France... and passing it up!

It’s for the moments like this... •
My brother just finished up his very first #ironmantri in under 6 hours! 🔥 and it’s safe to say I’m so proud! •
My “why” in why I choose the network marketing profession over and over again, is because it’s one of the best vehicles for financial leverage & time abundance so that I (& my amazing growing team) never miss moments like this with the people We love the most. •
Congrats Big Bro on crushing your first Ironman! You continue to push yourself to new heights physically & professional and even though you have set some damn high standards for @gaby_edwards & I to follow, we would choose you every time! #ironman703geelong

"Some days it just flows and I feel like I’m born to do this, other days it feels like I’m trudging through hell. Every day I make the choice to show up and see what I’ve got, and to try and be better.
My advice: keep showing up."
Just this weekend I crossed finished line at the Ironman triathlon 70.3 here at Melbourne. Prior to this race I changed to plant based diet, moved to Australia, started job/school. Time was against me and it felt like I am in constant state of chasing my tale. There was a lot of sacrifice but I applied #pma positive mental attitude and applied myself.
I wanna thanks to everyone who made me motivated and especially to those folks who doubted me. You gave me fuel for this rocket to launch.
I did commit 10 weeks to find out how hard can I push myself but also to raise money for charity water in Africa. Charity is is on for next month if u would like to donate and support a good cause ✌️ https://my.charitywater.org/deny-houdek/ironman-for-clean-water

So last week I mentioned to all you fellow animal lovers that I was working on something awesome for you all and the planning all went way smoother than expected so I am soooo excited to be able to announce all this cool stuff for you all even sooner! 😻
This crazy fun little business I am running has now finalised three WONDERFUL pawtrait packages for you to choose from starting at just $100!
There a few exciting reasons that these packages are so special for the both of us and perhaps my favourite one is that from now on I will be gathering 5% of the funds from each pawtrait session at the end of each month to donate to a loacal (Geelong based) animal rescue centre/organisation. Growing up my heart was set on becoming a vet and saving all of the animals in the world, I soon realised that I'm horrible at science but the dream to save and help animals in need still stands strong! 5% might not seem like much but I promise this is just the beginning and every little bit helps! The centres/organisations will vary each month so we can spread a little love and 'paws'itivity everywhere! For the rest of February and all of March the chosen organisation is @waggintailsanimalrescue . 💕
The second most exciting thing is that I have teamed up with some fellow animal lovers and entrepreneurs to treat you guys after your session and also just to say thanks! There are so many wonderful animal brands out there however I am so excited to be working with two of mine (and Vader's) favourite - @purepawsbakery and @riverandcoau ✨
And lastly, I have created a snazzy little info package for all who are interested in booking their first or even second Pawtrait session! It has everything you need to know about each of the packages, why I am suited for the job, some things to keep in mind and of course sooo many gorgeous faces of fur babies I have captured overtime! 🐾
If you would like a copy comment below and tell me you are interested or message me directly! I cannot wait to hear from you all! ✨💕
