Blue hour in Engadin. These little towns are Sagliains and Lavin, they are on the southeast side of the Vereina Tunnel. It's a 23 km train tunnel which take you and your car through the Alps in just 18 minutes. During summer, you can also drive the Flüela pass up the Flüela summit (2383 m). But in winter, the pass is closed due to the heavy snow fall and danger of avalanches. For this photo I used my 70-200 lense, no filters.
I used photoshop for the first time tonight and I am just giving anyone out there who has ever used photoshop mad props because it took me FOREVER to figure out the smallest little thing! It’s definitely an art and a skill on its own.
🏞️ Our planet has a story to tell us, one that's hidden in the rocks, trees, ice, and all life in this place we call earth.
Fact No. 3 about Red Rock Canyon NCA a little more Geology for you. These amazing sandstone cliffs found here, are composed of Aztec Sandstone, and thousands of feet high. In this shot you see me standing on and surrounded by the fossilized cores of old sand dunes layers deposited during the early Jurassic Period (180-190 million years ago) which have been uplifted to their current elevation and exposed to weathering and erosion. These sand dunes once covered the Dakotas all the way south into Mexico and west toward Los Angeles.
The sand slowly changed into sandstone as subsurface water percolated through the sediments, depositing iron oxide and calcium carbonate in the pore spaces between the grains changing the sand into sandstone and giving it this beautiful reddish color. Rocks are not just rocks, but a window to the past of our planet.
It is cool to learn something new, I hope I inspired to visit, and if you do, now you know what you are looking at!

Like the frost on a rose
Winter comes for us all
Oh how nature acquaints us
With the nature of patience
Like a seed in the snow
I've been buried to grow
For Your promise is loyal
