Hopefully your feed has cleared out a little of couple pictures... And now back to regularly scheduled programming. Friday, I'm in love! These pancakes from @chez_ma_tante are like a pair of cashmere sweatpants and I ♥️ them. They are thick and fluffy with slight crisped edges that hit that deep comfort food bone but the hint of lemon gives them the sophistication that makes them just a little bit fancy. I couldn’t stop thinking about these pancakes for awhile and I’m usually not impressed by brunch in NYC (😱I know.). Everything is solid here since it's simple food, done really well. And I just am loving Greenpoint these days - I feel creatively refreshed whenever I get out there.

Y'all need to get some of this chicken and rice soup with garlicky chile oil into you ASAP. Super simple & healthy recipe from @basically & @rice.isnice 🤘🏼We made it last night, devouring heaped bowls of comforting, creamy deliciousness and falling in love with that f$&king outstanding chili garlic oil. The Fabian aralia (Polyscias scutellaria) is an extremely attractive foliage plant known for its round, leathery, and dark green leaves. They supposedly look like dinner plates so that’s where she gets her common name - the Dinner Plate aralia. Who comes up with these names? Who thought that this plant would want to be called Dinner Plate? That’s like naming your daughter Rick. (Sorry if you named your daughter Rick)
The Fabian aralia is native to the tropics of the Pacific and are fairly easy to maintain. They can grow anywhere from partial shade to bright light and requires minimal watering. Just be sure that the soil is completely dried out between waterings so that it doesn’t get overwatered.
If you want to make a lasting impression tonight, this is what you have the waiter bring out from the back of the kitchen with a tiny candle on top. Roses are fleeting, aralias are forever.

In 1978, after a number of racially charged crimes against blacks in Crown Heights, a group of over 200 blacks in Brooklyn created the first ever Black Community Citizen Patrol modeled after the Jewish watch group, Shomrim Brooklyn.
The patrol group, called the 10 of Crown Heights, was the centerpiece of a three‐pronged organizing efforts announced during a meeting of more than 500 residents and community leaders.
In addition to the patrol, a political committee was established to lobby for black interests, and an economic committee was formed to study the spending habits of black Brooklyn residents and to use the data in seeking support for the patrol and for the political effort.
The patrol group didn’t last that long but is said to have been the inspiration behind a number of block associations and poc community patrol groups that came after. #BlackHistory#OurBKHistory
