Well I am ready for spring whenever she decides to show up 🤗🌸 I used @mccallpatterncompany#m7719 for my dress, I used bodice 3 and the straight skirt. If you saw my sewing sketch you saw my RTW inspo dress, and so I knew I was going to eliminate the waistband on m7719 and add a ruffle detail. I ended up lengthening the bodice and shortening the skirt. Thank you to all my sewing friends for the tips and advice on the invisible zip, that went in perfect!

I can’t get over the gorgeousness of this linen #bellbirdwraptop that I just finished making from @common_stitch 😱!! I finally got to test out one of their sew-at-home kits and it made the entire process a breeze. Simple instructions, easy pattern pieces, fabric + thread + cute carry bag. Instant fan 👏🏼
I wasn’t planning to share a finished photo on the grid until my blog post was ready, but you guys, this pattern is so incredible! And for everyone who’s followed along as I’ve made it, know that I appreciate it, so here she is! @sarkirsten and I were talking about slow sewing and the gratification it brings. I took my time while working on this, trying my best to do the best I am capable of, not trying to rush through and just get it done. I’ve been working a lot more like this lately, and it think it’s doing my soul, and sewing practice, some good. The more time I spend with something in the making hours, the more I truly cherish and appreciate it. As a maker, not only do I get to spend time with an item during its use, but I got to spend the time making it. Our journey and history together is infinitely deeper than with something I purchased, and I think that’s really an incredible thing.
I love that the things I’m making this year feel like they have so much heart in them. So here is my #raspberryrucksack atop my beloved #wikstenhaori , two of the most endearing things I’ve made to date.
Keep an eye out for @sarkirsten’s release of the backpack pattern. It’s due out next month and isn’t something you want to miss. Blog post on my backpack to come!
I’ve been following @ruthpoundwhite’s #onlineactsofkindness this week and have found it really positive and inspiring, so this is my (slightly late!) contribution. I started posting on Instagram as a way of sharing the things I like, and gradually pushed myself out of my comfort zone. Along the way I have made so many friends spanning different Instagram communities, and met quite a few in person as well. I have shared successes and failures, the frustrations of being a working mother, my passion for making and my love of colour. I am still a work in progress, a project that can never be completed. So thank you to all of you who spend a little time with me each day, to learn more about what makes me who I am.
