Repost By @anxietysupport : This time seven years ago I was spending Thanksgiving in an inpatient treatment center for Panic Disorder with Agoraphobia. I remember how surreal it felt to be away from my loved ones on a holiday. How it felt to be sitting at a round table in a dining hall surrounded by women I had only known for a few days. How it felt to try and get as close as possible to tradition in a very unordinary environment. I remember doing my best.
To anyone currently in treatment away from your loved ones on this Thanksgiving, just know that you are so loved and appreciated and thought of. If you’ve been in treatment during the holidays or know someone who is, you are also loved and appreciated and thought of. Recovery and healing are on their own timeline and sometimes holidays, anniversaries and even birthdays fall in that dash. It’s difficult but we are not alone in the process.
If you couldn’t make it to Thanksgiving this year because maybe things are hard and you didn’t have it in you, just know you are not an empty seat at the dinner table- you are the warmth in the heart of your loved ones who are so so proud of you. You are healing and this community gets you💚
If you struggle with the holidays, this is for you: Do your best today, let that be enough. Find your comfort zone and stay there if you need to. It’s okay. Your family will ask you questions, lots and lots- answer within your realm of comfort and don’t feel pressured to extend beyond that. It’s okay to give general answers or redirect conversations. You are in control when it comes to loving inquiries about you. Speak only what maintains the calm within you and doesn’t rattle it. Nothing is worth your discomfort, remember that. If you need to step away for some alone time, do it. If you need to say no, say no. Take it one breath at a time. Lean into love and lean into gratitude. I am so so so thankful for you, recovery, and this community 💚 #happythanksgivng#thankful#grateful#recovery#thingstoremember#notetoself#toremember#positvereminders#positivityquotes#positivemantras#mantraoftheday#handwrittenquote#selfloveclub#selflovewarrior#selfcarefirst#se
I AM NOT PERFECT..
Being on Instagram and having a public Instagram with followers this past year has taught me a lot. For one people think you are perfect and I AM NOT, so far from that, I don’t strive to become perfect I just strive to become healthy and happy.. yes I am down 135 pounds but I still have excessive skin in which I need to tone up so please do not DM asking how perfect I am and how do I get my body

Every once in a while something comes through me and I give advice that I actually need more then anyone. Look, any of us can spit out an inspirational quote or two or post a picture looking out into the distance with words to live by... but most of us have a hard time practicing what we preach. As long as we are alive, we are growing, struggling and trying to figure out this beautiful and messy adventure we call life. So if you’re like me and you haven’t figured out yet don’t worry about it. Take a breath, because as long as we are breathing we can find something to be grateful for. And that gratitude leads directly to happiness. And that is something that I have not figured out… but that I am actively choosing to work on. #happythanksgivng#gratitude#workingonit
