You kind of have to stop and admire this breathtaking vista, whether entering or leaving the campground paradise that resides at the base of Havasu Canyon...at least that’s what I do! 🤷♂️ So then, here’s my rendition of (arguably) the most photographed spot in the Havasupai community, taken on Thanksgiving morning as we departed this oasis. 🏝

If we’re friends on FB then this is old news to you, but to all my insta friends who are too cool... this happened! October 18th (3 months ago today) we got #Engaged ! 😍❤️ If you’re interested here’s the back story ... •
On October 17th we drove about 5 hrs from our casa to the #Havasupai trailhead parking lot where we took a quick nap in our car till sunrise stared to light up the sky & we could start the hike down into the Grand Canyon. Once we made it to #Supai village we checked in, got our wristbands & tent tag then continued #hiking till we found the perfect spot to set up camp. Once camp was up & ready for us to come back & pass out in later we hiked back to Havasupai Falls to enjoy the views for a bit, eat our food & take some pics. Then we hiked over to Mooney falls to do pretty much the same thing. My #garmin watch said we hiked 17 miles that day & it was absolutely perfect! Once back at camp we slept like babies to the sound of water flowing around us & Mooney falls not too far from our tent. The next morning we woke up at dawn to start our #trek out early since we had the #hike out plus a 5 hr drive ahead of us & a flight to Hawaii the next morning that we still needed to finish packing for. So we packed up #camp , threw our packs on & started our way out, but as we passed Havasupai Falls we noticed NO ONE was there! So of course we side tracked to take some beautiful sunrise pics. After a few minutes of #nature pics Zach took out the tripod & wrapped it around a tree so we could take a timed photo together... well that “timed photo” turned out to be video & just like that Zach managed to capture this special moment for me to watch way more times than I should ever admit 😭❤️ & Thank goodness!! We hiked 13 miles that day... with no cellphone service! I was booking it out with my gigantic goofy smile till we reached the car so I could finally start blabbing the news to everyone!
10 years down & forever to go ❤️ Thanks for making me one happy lady Zach! Xoxo •
Hunter and I both shared a zest for adventure and spoke often about wanting to hike Havasupai someday very soon. We talked about how cool it would be to see the beautiful turquoise water and camp out.
I was lucky enough to hike Havasupai this past October. Hunter was very much on my mind during this trip. On our last night most of our stuff got soaked and carrying everything out was so much heavier than we had planned. All my clothes was soaked EXCEPT for the shirt I had brought in his honor which I had safely put in a zip lock bag. That morning I zipped up my rain jacket and we started our hike out. As I was getting closer to the hill top I remember feeling a bit fatigued and looking down and Hunter’s face was peeking out of my jacket. At that moment I stopped and said a little prayer and just had a moment for him ♥
Hunter your incredible smile and passion to help others is what I choose to remember you by. Always adventure for those who can’t.
A month after I snagged permits to this little gem, I had shoulder surgery. Knowing this trip was on the horizon was incredible motivation during rehab. Permits become available again this Feb. 1 (and will sell out for the entire year within a few hours). I cannot recommend it enough - set your alarms, y’all!
It’s that time again!! HAVASUPAI PERMITS are almost up for grabs! So get a group chat going with all your friends and family and figure out dates that work for all y’all! February 1st at 8am (Arizona time) is when booking opens up and everything is gone within 20minutes. So with demand so high, the best time to visit is, frankly, whenever you are able to make a reservation.
Since last year sold out almost instantly, the best strategy is to be as flexible as possible and grab whatever dates are still available when reservations start. You have to Pay everything up front on 1 card. So you’ll need to have everyone pay you before and have the credit card ready.
Dates available are (February 1 to November 30)
NEW FOR 2019- Online account!
You can and should create an account online BEFORE booking! This puts all your Information in quickly when you go to check out so you can get your prime spots locked in ASAP.
I’ll be dedicating all next weeks post about HAVASUPAI packing list, gear, trail guides and more!! #havasupaifalls#havasupai#havasufalls#havasu#supai
