Missing this place and this special person a little extra today 💛

After a year of living in a tent under the stars, out of our Land Cruiser and under other people’s roofs, I’m so freaking excited to have a place of our own to call home again.
While life on the road has been one of the best experiences to date it doesn’t mean it’s easy. There are loads of positives that outweigh the pitfalls but after awhile you just miss the comfort of “home”. And this mama is ready to nest. I can’t wait to show you guys our new casa and life in Nashville. Have you been? Tell me your favorite things to do and spots to eat in the city!

If we’re friends on FB then this is old news to you, but to all my insta friends who are too cool... this happened! October 18th (3 months ago today) we got #Engaged ! 😍❤️ If you’re interested here’s the back story ... •
On October 17th we drove about 5 hrs from our casa to the #Havasupai trailhead parking lot where we took a quick nap in our car till sunrise stared to light up the sky & we could start the hike down into the Grand Canyon. Once we made it to #Supai village we checked in, got our wristbands & tent tag then continued #hiking till we found the perfect spot to set up camp. Once camp was up & ready for us to come back & pass out in later we hiked back to Havasupai Falls to enjoy the views for a bit, eat our food & take some pics. Then we hiked over to Mooney falls to do pretty much the same thing. My #garmin watch said we hiked 17 miles that day & it was absolutely perfect! Once back at camp we slept like babies to the sound of water flowing around us & Mooney falls not too far from our tent. The next morning we woke up at dawn to start our #trek out early since we had the #hike out plus a 5 hr drive ahead of us & a flight to Hawaii the next morning that we still needed to finish packing for. So we packed up #camp , threw our packs on & started our way out, but as we passed Havasupai Falls we noticed NO ONE was there! So of course we side tracked to take some beautiful sunrise pics. After a few minutes of #nature pics Zach took out the tripod & wrapped it around a tree so we could take a timed photo together... well that “timed photo” turned out to be video & just like that Zach managed to capture this special moment for me to watch way more times than I should ever admit 😭❤️ & Thank goodness!! We hiked 13 miles that day... with no cellphone service! I was booking it out with my gigantic goofy smile till we reached the car so I could finally start blabbing the news to everyone!
10 years down & forever to go ❤️ Thanks for making me one happy lady Zach! Xoxo •
This wonderful canyon has 4 blue-green waterfalls: New Navajo Falls, Fifty Foot Falls, Havasu Falls, Mooney Falls. These waterfalls are renowned for being a beautiful turquoise color. Because the water has been stored underground in limestone caverns for so long (possibly for as long as 30,000 years!), minerals like calcium and magnesium have saturated the water. When the sun reflects off of those minerals, we get the beautiful blue green color. Visit our website to book your spring trip to Havasupai Faterfalls. .

This is basically the view most of the way to the Havasupai village. Just walls, rocks, flowers, and the occasional pack of mules carrying peoples gear down. Taken with Galaxy S9. #prettyok#havasupaifalls#havasupai#galaxys9
Barely making it to Friday like 🙃
Idk what kind of weird ass energy is in the air but this week needs to get itself over with already. I’ve been feeling 3,000 different emotions and I just need to go for a nice looooong run.
Also, it’s almost one year to the day that I found out I was going to Havasupai 2x in 2018! I would write a blog on how to go about reserving permits but I’m too lazy rn. There’s also 838483737 travel blogs on it, so I’m sure a quick google search will provide answers. You can also give @havasufallshiking a follow for information come Feb 1!
These are pictures of two people who have tremendous differences, from religion, to aspects of politics, to our own interests. These are pictures of two people who have respect for each other, ears that are willing to listen, fire within that fuels pursuits, and hearts that deeply care about others. An unexpected friendship has become a solid one, full of insightful conversation and epic memories. Over the course of a year we have traveled to SF, twice, where we have danced the night away, drank good wine, and have spent time with my family (She is already calling one of them “Aunt”). We have road tripped from San Diego to Seattle, visiting Big Sur, numerous parks along the rugged Oregon coast, and pit stopping for some brewskies. She has flown up here to WA to join me at Oktoberfest, and to better learn the area I now call home. We have camped in freezing temps, hiking over 30+ miles, to take in the abundance of beauty that is known as Havasupai. I am thankful to know you, Marielle. #gotyourback#youvegotafriendinme#womenwhotravel#strongandindependent#womenwhowander#throwbackthursday#havasupai#mooneyfalls#wheretonext#betterbesomewheresoon#imissyourface

It is not all about the destination, but the journey to the destination.
This past November, I had the amazing opportunity to go to the infamous Havasupai Falls where we hiked 10 miles into the canyons to see 3 beautiful waterfalls. I had read number of blogs, looked at a plethora of Instagram photos to get a peek of these three falls everyone talks about. But on our additional three mile hike to the third fall, I came across this three tier waterfall with a beautiful backdrop of the canyons and bush. Not one blog mentioned this site.
Those three miles ended up being the most picturesque part of my trip with nature of all kinds even a palm tree! 🍍
As an adoptee, our journey is filled with bumps, turns, side roads, and unknown waterfalls. They show themselves as questions about our past, birth family, and what ifs. These questions are not bad. They make-up who we are. Our story started with these side roads of being given the gift for a better life and opportunities with a parents that want to provide and love us.
No family is perfect. That is fact. Because no human is perfect. But why would you want perfection. Perfection has no unknown waterfalls and surprises that give you gifts of beauty.
