Is tracking your food ‘bad’ for your mental health?
For some people - yes absolutely. If you have a history of disordered eating it is absolutely reasonable to say that you should not track your food.
But for most of us, tracking can be a really useful tool to understand the VALUE of our food.
To make long term habitual changes we need to: ⚡️Understand the value of our food
⚡️Know roughly what our daily budget is
⚡️Know when we have gone over that budget and when to pull back
If you can’t successfully do the above, then you will always be a slave to your coach, trainer or remain in a perpetual cycle of buying ebooks you will never use.
Because you have not learnt the value of your food! 🍎
Think about money for example. Maybe you were educated on the value of money by your parents or maybe you had to learn the value of money by making a few mistakes. Either way you came to a place where you knew that you had X amount of dollars and it needed to last you X amount of time. So you are cautious and take thought as to how and why you spend your money. But were you ever educated on the value of food? Are you aware of your daily ‘budget’ of calories?
The difference between money and calories is that once money runs out, it’s gone. Calories on the other hand, you can store for use later on (aka gain weight). Why does it matter? Because being overweight is a health risk. It’s not fun to admit and it hurts to hear the truth. But we will never decrease our rates of obesity without proper education. It’s not enough to say ‘go off of your hunger cues’ because we know that obesity leads to leptin insensitivity which means that those hunger cues aren’t working anymore.
Tracking your food (at least for a short period of time) gives you a good understanding of the value of food. Think of those who do intuitive eating really well - most of them have tracked at some point in their life and they are able to maintain a healthy weight range without obsessing over a specific diet or worrying about what they eat. They just subconsciously know.
If you take the time to learn the value of your food then you will be taking the first step to making long term change ♥️

Happy Monday! I’ve been craving pancakes, so I thought why not start the week with a super delicious stack of paleo pancakes!
Pancakes made with @bobsredmill paleo pancake mix, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, @vitalfarms pasture raised egg, @newbarnorganics almond milk, @fourthandheart vanilla bean ghee, berries plus topped with pure maple syrup

i actually always look forward to mondays and the start of a new week, there is just something about it that puts me in the best mood ✨ i know there are a few people out there that also love mondays! i really havent met a day of the week i don’t like, unless i wake up on a tuesday thinking it’s a friday, then maybe not... 🙈.

CHOC PEANUT BUTTER PANCAKES! 🍫🥜🥞
Peanut butter has been growing on me lately guys! I don’t know who I’m becoming hahahaha!
But let me just tell you, these chocolate peanut butter pancakes I made for breakfast yesterday were AMAZING! They may have been the best vegan pancakes I have ever made! Not kidding! Luckily you can make them too because I have a recipe for you all!!!
To make these indulgent pancakes you will need:
1 cup oats
1 ripe banana, mashed
1 cup plant milk - more if needed
1/4 cup buckwheat flour
2 tsp cacao powder
2 tsp peanut butter
1 tbsp chia seeds
Blend oats into fine flour. Add other ingredients in high speed blender or bowl and mix until well combined. Pour batter into pan and cook pancakes for 3-4 minutes each side. Top with lots of peanut butter, raspberries, blueberries and cacao nibs!!!
I seriously can’t get over how good that peanut butter looks! So glossy and perfect! I also have a new video going up on my youtube channel today so stay tuned for that! I am having a lot of fun lately with food photography and filming as I have just got some new editing software!!

Hey guys! 🤗 I'm just here with a kind reminder that the way you eat doesn’t need a label. My breakfast on the left could be classified as keto, paleo, dairy free, gluten free etc... but it's also just food. Some days I might eat low carb, other days I don't! Some days I eat meals containing gluten and dairy, other days I don't. And I don't think it's necessary to place a label on your dietary choices in order to live a truly healthy lifestyle. A healthy diet simply incorporates food that 1️⃣ makes you feel physically good and 2️⃣ is enjoyable 😊⠀
If you have a medical condition with specific dietary needs, certain ethical or cultural values, food intolerances, or simply don't feel amazing when you eat a certain food group, that's totally okay 🤷🏻♀️ - because my key message here is that you need to do what works for YOU 😋 but not simply because XYZ influencer or celebrity told you that you should only eat keto, raw vegan, paleo, or ‘cut out sugar and carbs for 10 days’ 🤔😬 @jlo⠀
There's no single optimal dietary pattern that we should all follow, because the truth is that everybody and every BODY is different 🧘♂️🤸♀️⠀
We are not programmed like robots, and will inevitably fall off the bandwagon of a diet that we find restrictive and unsustainable. It’s important to allow room for flexibility, self-compassion and the ability to decide what to eat based on what your body is telling you.⠀

Ok so this isn’t the most photogenic of food photos 😂 I was that hungry I forgot to take a photo once the cheese was melted but it tasted soooooo good!
⭐️SYN FREE⭐️ I fried off some steak in fry light with mushrooms, 1 onion, 1 pepper, 1 garlic clove, a 400g tin of chopped tomatoes and LOTS of chilli powder the hotter the better for me🌶😛Once all simmered and cooked mix it in with cooked pasta and into a oven dish adding 40g reduced cheese as my heA. Under the oven for 5-10 mins on 180 and 🙌🏻🍴
So easy and I always save some for dinner the next day!
