  • Portofino expections: it’s going to be amazing, I have been dreaming of this place for four years and I’m going to be blown away and nowhere in the world will ever compare again! I’m even going to bump into George Clooney and he will invite me onto his yacht where I’ll drink champagne and then be invited to their Lake Como home for christmas.
.
Portofino reality: Oooh it’s a bit hot for October isn’t it? My backpack is making my back sweat and my hands are sticky. Oh bugger it the strap on my playsuit has just snapped right off, oh well maybe I can buy something in Portofino! Oh dear I can’t afford Dior and Chanel. Where for lunch? Muscles and lobster on the terrace! €100?! No thank you. Maybe I’ll get an ice cream. Ice cream €8!? BUT ITS NOT EVEN PEAK SEASON. *Eats some leftover Fruitellas in my bag*. It’s now 3pm and I’ve not had breakfast (because I forgot my croissant in the pastry shop), I’ve not had lunch either... I get stared at by little Arabella who is being naughty and not eating her lobster, her mummy is quite cross! Her mummy then stared at me like I have the plague. I think it’s my broken strap.
.
I do not see any famous celebs, just someone who looks like he might be called Hugo or Tarquin, wearing a crisp white shirt and loafers. Suddenly his phone rings and I realise his ringtone is blasting out Ariana Grande, Hugo looks quite embarrassed and I feel quite happy.
.
Welcome to Portofino guys! It’s absolutely beautiful but you’ll need a loan to holiday like the regulars 💰

  • A zoomed in version of my favourite lamp post. Yes you can definitely have a favourite lamp post. These always remind me of Narnia, or ye olde London when it was covered in soot and Sweeny Todd was stalking the alleyways. Oh my, I know I go on about it but I NEED to go back in time, just for five minutes... or ten... or maybe even a week. I’ll even be a Victorian peasant I don’t mind, as long as I don’t get stuck there, I don’t think I’d do well with the stench.
.
Off to Suffolk today for a bit of an explore, just trying to basically fit in as much as I can whilst the sun is shining. I never go East much because the lack of dual carriageway gonna bed me a headache but it truly is a beautiful county, totally underrated. And offers so much Saxon history which we never seem to hear about as much?!
.
Do you guys have any trips planned for the summer? Let me know where you are off to 🚗✈️🚂🚢

  • How stunning is the Tomasetti House? It was built by the Degraves brothers (whom the nearby laneway was named after) and was originally used as a flour mill. It’s now a trendy bar appropriately called The Mill House 🍷💫

  • Take time to stop and smell the flowers- something I’ve never been good at. I’m always living a day, a week, a month ahead. My feet are never fully on the ground where I am.

Traveling has helped me grow as a steady, more present individual. When I’m in a new place, I’m not wishing myself elsewhere. I’m not desiring myself into the future or mourning the past.
Traveling may just seem like an exciting and cool thing to do, but I don’t go anywhere without knowing it’ll provide me something I need. Whether it’s closure, a break from stress, or the ability to relax into my camera and silence my mind.

  • This spot has been a pub since 1853 so imagine how many beers would have been served here! It’s now a gastropub owned by Andrew McConnell and luckily the vintage tiled frontage has been more than spared.

I got to take my best gal pal @seastruck around one of my favourite cities, of course stopping for crisp, dry rosé along the way🍷. #culturetripfood

  • Happy Friday! The sun in shining, it’s bright outside and I’m missing New York City just a tiny bit today 🌇. When we were completely and totally jet lagged, we strolled through Central Park at 6am, only to come across this stunning space. The golden light filtered in slowly, the colours glittering on the ceilings. It was so beautiful, I only wish I hadn’t rolled out of bed looking like I’d just travelled across the Atlantic. So no photos of me this time, just the beauty of NYC 📸. #iloveny

  • Happy Monday! What goals are you looking to accomplish this week? I’ve finally been settling in to work on my blog, create posts and go through my camera. Although I have to admit, I’m doing this fairly leisurely... because it’s been wonderful being home for an extra week. We’re looking forward to relaxing, spending more time with family + getting a little extra sleep 💛.

  • East Aurora Theater, New York. ❤️ The village of East Aurora is one of my favourites to visit while we’re home. It fills me with this sense of great nostalgia. I had one of my first jobs in this little town, scooping ice cream (yes, in case you need me, I’m a serious pro 🍦). I’ve spent days gallivanting with pals, nights of fireworks and even met my friend’s very first baby in this town. I love it here and honestly, if we ever move home, I’m finding a home in walking distance to Main Street with a big wrap around porch. It’s kind of a place that reminds me of Gilmore Girls Stars Hollow. Does it get any better than that? 😍

  • I remember when I was younger my dad once said to me (in a very Indian Dad way) that it was important that I don’t become a “drifter”, that I don’t move from one job to the next or one city to the next in an endless cycle with no grounding. And even though he didn’t use these words exactly I think he meant that it was important that I don’t just float through life without purpose and meaning. Ironically I have found purpose and meaning in exactly that: being a nomad, in travelling from place to place around the world, engaging with new peoples and cultures, and from moving fluidly from one type of work to another. It has helped me to come to know my own purpose. I am so happy when I travel. And so I have found that I am a purposeful drifter, one who is wandering but not lost (yes, that’s Tolkien).

  • Note to self: if you are taking a trip into the Arctic Circle, bring appropriate clothes. Leaving the UK in a heatwave means only one thing for me, I have a one track mind and that’s shorts and summer dresses, perhaps I should have thought twice about it when packing, but guess who didn’t?
.
Yesterday we arrived in Narvik, the most northerly point of our @cunardline voyage, and home to the most northerly train station in the world. Close to the Swedish border I was pretty tempted to hop on a train and find a Swedish cafe to watch the football in 🇸🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Not sure it would have gone down well when I was cheering for England 🤷🏻‍♀️
.
I changed my mind and instead I took the cable car up to the viewpoint over the town where you can get spectacular views over the landscape. Luckily for me there was a cosy cafe/restaurant up top where I snuggled under a blanket, watched the views, drank a cup of tea in a giant mug and had constant food envy over everyone’s meals [ad]
