  • 📍Seoul , South Korea 🇰🇷
💡Interesting facts :
🔸 Starfield COEX Mall’s newly opened Starfield Library is currently trending among tourists as the latest cultural attraction within Seoul. With a spacious area of 2,800㎡, the two-story library is open to the public free of charge. The library consists of three 13 m tall giant bookshelves packed with approximately 50,000 books and magazines. The library boasts Korea’s largest collection of magazines of over 600 different titles, including the latest editions and international magazines. The up-to-date e-book system is especially popular among the visitors as well. In addition, the library offers a pleasing environment for visitors to relax or to enjoy reading with its stylish reading tables and chairs.

  • 【I'm sort of breaking my posting rule today. But...this isn't skincare related and I have a couple of other things that I need to post next week on Tues/Thurs so I want to get this one done quicker. Yes, I do have a layout method/schedule on my page, in case you're wondering.】
_____
My family and I live in the southern part of Korea, near Busan. If you come to the southern part, you will see so many restaurants serving this dish since it originated in Busan. It's called 돼지국밥, literally translated "pig soup rice." 🐖
_____
It's basically cut up pieces of pork shank in a pork bone broth (bones removed when served however) with rice thrown in. It takes many hours to boil the pork bones that make up the broth. You can add red pepper paste, tiny salted shrimp, chives, green onions, kimchi or whatever else you want to add. It's actually recommended for women after childbirth and for weak people.
_____
According to the website www.eatinkorea.com:
"Theories abound about the origin of the soup. Some say it was invented during the Korean War when peasants would gather pork bones discarded by the US army and make a meal out of it. Others argue that the soup dates back to the Goryeo dynasty when peasants gifted with pork or dog meat by the nobles were reluctant to waste any part of it."
_____
This is one of my husband's favorite meals here in our area. To be honest, I didn't like it at first, not because of the flavor of the soup, but because most restaurants use very fatty meat. But finally we found a restaurant owned by a fairly young man who uses nicer cuts of meat. I don't mind it now. It is a very satisying meal at a cheap price.
_____
Have you ever tried this dish? If you ever come to the Busan area, keep this food in mind!

ENG| A nice and oddly tall robot (art) friend at the cafe's entrance. On a random note did you hear about Nasa's rover Opportunity that "died" it's actually pretty sad since they're all alone there investigating for us but at the same time I am slightly afraid of Robots or more specifically AI, it just brings up a whole lot of moral and ethical questions to mind I don't really want to deal with, that's for my grandchildren to deal with haha I don't know maybe I'm just this periods version of those people that yelled "magic! Heresy" when they saw medicine and since they didn't understand. .

  • Oh haiiiiiiii girl! 💁🏼‍♀️ Cherry made Inwangsan hike look easy. She literally skipped up the 12,000 stairs.. and when she got to the top she wasn’t even gasping for air. I mean look at her, she’s flawless. And freaking hilarious. I belly laugh SO MUCH with this freak of nature! You all need to follow her and the wonderfully weird faces she makes 😂
__________
I can’t wait to share more from yesterday! Celia (@sealbbb), Gina (@ginabearsblog) and Cherry (@cherry_in_korea) are the absolute best and we had so much fun!

  • At Bilbos’ house... however he wasn’t here maybe he is in an adventure right now.
.
I’m so happy we went to such a magical place in Jeju. All the trip I was babywearing with my podaegi, my buckle carriers were broken and tour trips are always full of activities so moving around with a woven wrap with a toddler that wants to run and be carried at the same time plus making time for the carry while walking with the group made me think that for this trip the the podaegi was a better choice, as a bonus, podaegis are really warm for winter, if you see the picture I am not wearing coat but podaegi...it was so handy for me.

.
