Green machine 😍 I did knife pleats on the skirt, and overlapping them slightly at the top created a lovely gathered a-line effect. Also, after years of avoiding sleeves, I’m happy to say these are quite comfortable to dance in. Winter sewing ftw! 💚 #lilaandjune#designexperiments#byebyebirdie

I love the mummy-daughter combos and after seeing how much you liked my 8th of March origami blouse/dress pattern I decided that girls also deserve a nice treat. 😉
This pattern is still in progress and there will be a test starting next week. If you want to be one of the testers leave me a comment below and join the FB group in my bio. .

I just want to echo what my friend @madebyrae so eloquently put to words the other day about not looking down on the RTW items in our closets and those of others. The most powerful thing we can do on a slow fashion journey is to care for what we already own, or what was previously made in a factory (by the hard-working hands of the economically disadvantaged.) I remember purchasing these jeans in a store. I had no pants that fit, having recently lost so much weight due to the stress of having a child in the hospital. I took three little kids into the store and found something as quickly as I could. I didn't have the patience to take them into a thrift store and hunt. I believe I had already cried that morning from the overwhelm of parenting three little ones. It was a hard, hard time. No way I could have sewn my own jeans. There is no shame, but there is redemption. Because I love these jeans - now mended - more than anything else in my closet. I am so grateful for the hands that made them, when I couldn't. 💚 Wearing: #stratatop + thrifted lace duster and scarf.
Sometimes you find fabric and know it was meant to be. This fabric... The pattern, the colours, the feel, the weightlessness… This delicate, intricate floral design takes me to a dreamy otherworld… I know it's only fabric.
My primary focus on this #newlook6557 dress was to make a discrete crossover bodice that I could wear with a normal bra. For me, strapless bras are either so tight they cut off circulation or slip and slide into uselessness.
As someone who is blessed (or cursed) in the bust department, I had never been able to wear such a dress whilst maintaining a shred of modesty. I built the bodice and straps around the bra, to ensure adequate coverage.
The outcome: summer dress perfection. I managed something light and airy, feminine and delicate. I love this dress. #sewersgonnasew#makersgonnamake#isewmyownclothes#fabriclust#handmadewardrobe#isew#imakemyclothes#measurefabric#memade
Over the weekend I finished my first official basics tank using proper fabric. I love it. Selfies on the other hand, not so much.
I've already cut out 2 more with 3 others planned. I have a ridiculous stash of apparel fabrics to get through. Although I previously didn't sew much clothing I've always had issues saying no to pretty fabric on sale.
