On the long run…

Don’t you find it intriguing to witness how Life seems to unfold in a relative “natural” way despite all efforts made to control it with our “precious plans”?
-
How many times have we had to backup or improvise or even sometimes simply let go to allow Life “win” VS my-own-personal-little-project being flushed down the toilet?🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
-
In some cases I need to say, I find it quite frustrating! 😬
-
But if I’m honest with myself, I can also think of other situations in which Life seems to have (surprisingly enough) unfolded a massive red carpet just in front of my 2 front wheels to let me through. Almost like this time my plan was meant to be 🤔. Ok Life, Thank You 🙏🏼!
-
A few years back, I honestly couldn’t see anything bright coming my way. Yet I tried my best to stay confident and positive.
Today I live such a different Life, filled with brightness and opportunities, wow 😮!
-
However, being truthful, I really couldn’t take all credit for being able to find my way and roll from point A (a few years back) to point B (today)…
-
How many “coincidences”, “unexpected” calls or encounters met by “chance”, plans not going as “planned” and so on…
All these ideas sometimes get me spinning… not my wheels, my mind 🤤🥴
-
But at the same time I feel like there could exist some kind of invisible thread 🧵 or a sort of logical pattern holding everything together… or is it just me trying to make some sense of something that is not to be explained… who knows? 😊
-
Fortunately after some intense brainwaves activity, my “smoked-inception-mind” dissipates: allowing body & mind to come together again… back in present moment (thank you @eckharttolle 😅) and on my wheels, ready for new adventures 😄♿️🌏... .

  • Coffee, kindness, and cuteness. The recipe for the perfect Friday 🤘🏻.
.
.
Fun fact for the day - mom shaming isn't kind, even when you think your doing it under the guise of "helping". As moms, and as parents in general, we make the best decisions we can for our kids. I share a lot about my life with Asher and our journey here - because it is honest and it is real. I love this child more than life itself, and please know that every decision I make, especially when it comes to anything related to his medical care, has been researched and evaluated by a plethora of specialists.
.
.
I'm not saying I know it all, or that I am a perfect parent. But I do my best for this kid. And unfortunately I have had to block quite a few people lately who send me messages attacking some of my decisions or choices (which weren't even topics I have discussed on here).
.
.
Every parent makes the best decision they can for their child. So let's try to avoid tearing down others because they have different views or opinions, or they make decisions for their child that are different than yours may be.

When given the choice between being right, and being kind, choose kind 🤘🏻.

  • One more week until our little equestrian gets back on her horse 🐎 When Viena’s therapist had to move there were no other therapists available to work with her which meant no more hippotherapy for Viena. At first we didn’t think much of it but as the weeks turned into months, we began to notice her gait was widening and she was constantly walking into things, falling down and not as stable as she once was. It was becoming clear how important hippotherapy really was for Viena especially knowing that it has so many physical, cognitive and sensory benefits. This became our proof that hippotherapy really works but it saddens me thinking back on how much of a fight it was to even get the ok for her to begin riding. Before starting hippotherapy we had to have a doctor sign a form that she didn’t have atlantoaxial subluxation but the doctor wouldn’t even bother ordering the X-ray because she and her “team” of doctors believed that Viena shouldn’t be on a horse because of her “condition”. We eventually found an orthopedic surgeon at Stanford who ordered the X-ray, reviewed the results and signed off on the paperwork but to think if I listened to that first doctor and took her word that Viena shouldn’t be on a horse because she has Down Syndrome...it does more than saddens me...it angers me. This is why I advocate. This is why I educate. I taught that “team” of doctors that maybe they should educate themselves before assuming something. Maybe if they did a little research they would understand the advantages of hippotherapy. Never did we imagine that Vienas muscle tone would strengthen, that her endurance would improve and her posture would change from working with a horse but we are so grateful it did and are thankful she can resume hippotherapy. One more week Viena and you’ll be trotting on your horse once again 🐎

  • YES a break!!! Happy Saturday and Winter break/President's day weekend! On this long weekend OR week off for some districts, we wanted to give some guidance to help your students avoid idle time. A break from school is ALWAYS necessary however students can slip too far out of routine or structure and get very comfortable with being home. This can be a struggle for students and teachers to get everyone back on track when the break is over! Check out the tips on the blog, share with parents or implement for your own students at home! www.themillionthtask.com .

  • Its weekend but that didn't mean we werent busy. In our session today we captured snapshots of practitioners looking at the hurtful words and labels used for people who seem different and how we can stop this from happening in their ECD centers and communities. #ECD #Inclusion #inclusiveeducation
