  • The mind and body connection amazes, bewilders and fascinates me. I believe the breath is one of the most important, if not THE MOST important tool we, as humans, have in regulating and cultivating connection and calm. This is my left arm, with the ball of my humerus—upper arm—bone dislodged out of the socket of my radius. To say this was extremely painful is no joke, and thankfully I can see this ghostly and oddly graceful image and laugh with comic disbelief at the tenacious, extraordinary ability of MY body to withstand and endure pain and then begin to heal so readily. As an everyday, all weather biker, I know that it’s not a question of if an injury will happen, but when. Such is life. We risk what we love and I accept. Accidents happen in seconds and I knew and felt that something was terribly wrong when I tried to stand up and couldn’t bear weight on my left elbow. My immediate thought to myself was, “BREATHE.” It was my breath and the help of strangers and loved ones, near and far, that allowed me to do what needed to be done. In a pivotal time where I have been investigating my own life, mortality and what it means to live a meaningful life, it’s these precise moments where I return to love, connection and breath, over and over again. #xray #breathe #breath #falldowngetup #bikelife #life #thisislife #dislocatedelbow #gratitude #love #shock #incredible #unbelievable
