🗣 HIGHLIGHT OF MY DAY: I'd put my feelers out for more indy Black women authors a few months back. I want Beauty Pop to be a hub for those of us whose voices aren't frequently heard or silenced altogether. DaKiara heard my call and promised me that she'd get her books in the shop. Today I get a call...she's HERE!! All the way from the Fayetteville, NC area with books in hand! I can't tell y'all how honored I am that she trusts her work in Beauty Pop. All of my artisans hold a special place in my heart. I understand the discernment and thought that goes into finding a home for your "babies." Thank you, DaKiara for trusting my vision and becoming part of it! Beauties, her works are $10 in my shop while supplies last! Support Black women indy authors! I love y'all! 💜

Take the wheel of your own life. ⭐️ Do not let other people tell you what to do, how to feel or what not to feel. ⭐️ Give others the chance to tell you their opinion. But ask space back. Space for your own feelings, your own process. ⭐️ But in return: do not let your happiness depend on other people. Don’t blame them, or think that they have to do certain things to make you happy or feel a certain way. ⭐️ A type of independence will be the result. And that feels amazing! ⭐️ Glow and shine girl, you have yourself and that is enough. More than you can even see. ⭐️ #independentwoman#independent#amsterdam#strongwomen#beautiful#you#lettinggo
"Copra Press is proud to announce that Image Comics will be releasing the first 5 COPRA collections. They will all be available May 1st, so let your local comic shop know that they’re all easily available via Diamond Distributors. Tell your friends, spread the word!

Today, February 22, 2019 marks the 40th anniversary of St. Lucia's independence!
The caribs were the indigenous group on the island prior to European invasion. The British tried to colonize the island beginning in 1605 but were fought off by the caribs valiantly. However, the British would return.
St. Lucia was first colonized by the French, in 1650. And later came the British. They first took control of the island in 1663. However, the island changed hands between the British and the French 14 times but finally ended in 1814 via the Treaty of Paris with the British winning control of the island.
In 1838 St. Lucia became apart of the British Windward Islands (Barbados, Grenada, St. Vincent and Tobago) until the late 1950's when the Windward Islands group was dissolved.
In 1958 St. Lucia joined the West Indies Federation in an attempt to gain "semi-autonomous " dependence from the U.K. However, in 1962 that organization dissolved as well.
In 1967 the island became an associated state within the British empire, which gave the country self-governing responsibilities regarding internal affairs. All other responsibilities remained in the hands of the British. That is until February 22,1979, when St. Lucia finally won its independence.
The flag: 🇱🇨
- adopted/made in 1967
- blue = the sky and sea
- yellow = the sunshine
- black & white = the harmony between the races on the island
- triangles = the Pitons (volcanic cones), which is the country's national symbol
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY ST. LUCIA!
