  • Finally got a tattoo ;) // “Memento mori” is Latin for, “remember that you will die”. It is a Christian practice, first made popular in Medieval times (hence the font), of reflecting on one’s mortality. // It is not meant to be morbid. In fact, it is meant to motivate one to be the person one aspires to be at all times. // One knows neither the day nor the hour that we will die—only God knows. For this reason, ‘remember that you will die,’ and live every moment as if it were your last. // I got this tattoo, not only because I have been thoughtfully and carefully thinking about getting a meaningful tattoo for several years, but it is also in commemoration of the very dear loved ones I tragically lost while I was here in Japan for my first tour of duty—the ones who have made such a profound impact on my life, whose names do not need to be written in ink on my skin because they are engraved in my heart and occupy my thoughts daily. // Today also happens to be the one year death anniversary of my Tito Jo. #RequiescatInPace Tito Jo ❤️ . #MementoMori #Tattoo #Ink #Inked #BlackRoseTattoo #BlackRoseTattooJapan
