Help! Which one(s) should I put on my next TBR stack? (I have so many.🤦🏻‍♀️)

✨What book are you planning to read next?
Catwoman will be my next read. I'm excited to read a book by Maas outside of her two main series.

  • This was the very nice italian lady that I randomly spoke with when I was in Amsterdam. Life plays some beautiful tricks sometimes. The lady noticed I was taking this picture and smiled at me, and afterwards asked me if I was familiar with that book exchange idea. I said that I wasn't and she explained it to me, all this in italian. We just stood there in the street for about 7 minutes, me listening to her explanation and her opening up about her life, how she came to live in Amsterdam 20 years ago. I told her I had also lived in Italy and we laughed together. I never asked her name and she never asked mine, but we connected there and then. I was with my mom and two brothers and I think we all strolled away from her with a smile on our faces.

  • Happy Friday! I’m sitting in my reading chair tonight watching Gilmore Girls and not reading. I have about 300 pages left of Once Upon a River to finish before my book club meeting next week. I just haven’t spent much time reading it so far. Hmmm... maybe I shouldn’t be watching Gilmore Girls right now. 🤔

  • Happy Friday 🎉One thing I’ve come to realize while reading The Collected Schizophrenias is how difficult it is to describe mental illness. I think in many ways it’s hard to avoid sounding “over the top” or like you are exaggerating because the mental experience can often be so different from what life is like for someone without a given diagnosis or pattern of thought. For instance, in one essay Wang describes her experience with Cotard’s syndrome and on one level it sounds unbelievable when you try to describe the delusion in words. It reminded me of my own struggle with derealization — as part of my PTSD I often derealize and its commonly aligned with seeing my own face. The reason why I don’t take selfies is because I often can’t bear to look at myself, because I usually can’t tell when I’ll look in the mirror and be able to full grasp that this person looking back at me IS me or that I’m even a real person. And I hate that feeling of being so fractured from the world that my body feels unreal, so I avoid selfies and I only look in mirrors when I have to. That I’m a figment and someone will wake up and I’ll be gone. But how do you describe these delusions, in words, in a way that gets that experience across. I don’t know. And although I think we need to keep talking and writing about these things, it is difficult to articulate. I’ve enjoyed THE collected Schizophrenias because it’s an attempt to articulate something of life that often falls outside of what we falsely call “the norm” and is significant is getting more work like this out in the world. It’s a great blend of research, literature, pop culture, and Wang’s personal experience. It isn’t quite out yet, but if you’re intrigued, I suggest preordering it!

She's mending guitars and her life. He's trying to forget the war with music. Will one broken instrument make their love a smash hit?

Jenna Olsen isn't sure she'll ever escape her terrible choices in love. Becoming a skilled guitar craftsperson helped with the anxiety, but she dreams of the day when she can trust someone again. When an up-and-coming country star asks for a custom guitar in an impossible time-frame, Jenna falls for the challenge… and the man.

Camden Grace loves his music and adores his fans. His passions help him cope with the physical wounds he sustained in Iraq, but he remains haunted by his fractured family history. After his latest angry outburst leaves an expensive guitar shattered, he doesn't expect to find a strong-willed woman whose struggle echoes his own.

As the instrument and their feelings start to come together, an old would-be flame attempts to sabotage their relationship with increasingly aggressive behavior. Will a jealous rival kill more than their careers or will Jenna and Camden rise above the rage to heal their hearts forever? .

  • Happy Hufflepuff Friday! Ok, so it's not a real day but it should be!🌻
What are your weekend plans?
We just got home from visiting family for a few days...just in time for an upcoming storm! ❄❄
I really hate driving in bad winter weather but one kid has an activity tomorrow so I may have to head out and hope the storm hits later! ❄❄
Then plan on hunkering down and hiding 🤣
🌟🌟What are your weekend plans??🌟🌟

1. The only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it
2. Show respect for the other man’s opinions

4. Begin in a friendly way
5. Get the other person sating “yes, yes” immediately
6. Let the other man do a great deal of the talking
7. Let the other man feed that the idea is his
8. Try honestly to see things from the other person’s point of view
9. Be sympathetic with the other person’s ideas and desires
10. Appeal to the nobler motives

Kitap için sayfa sayısına rağmen 24 saatte biterek bir ilk'e imza attı diyebilirim👍 Çünkü konuya girmek için gereksiz yere uzatılan sayfalar karşılamadı beni. İlk sayfalardan içine hapsedince bitirmeden çıkmak olmuyor malumunuz 😏 Tabi ki çok sevdiğim ve bir kaşık suda boğmak istediğim 😒 henüz iyi miii, kötü mü olduğuna karar veremediğim gizli kahramanlarım vardı 🤔Bunların yanı sıra hayrete düşürenler de vardı ki ana karakterde bunu sık sık yaşadım. "sen insansın" diye tutup sarsmak istedim 🙈 "evet yakışıklı olabilirsin, çekici olabilirsin, zeki olabilirsin, pratik zekaya sahip olabilirsin, dirayetli olabilirsin, sadık olabilirsin, iradeli olabilirsin, romantik olabilirsin, düşünceli olabilirsin, detaycı olabilirsin, merhametli olabilirsin, acı çekmiş olabilirsin, dürüst olabilirsin, güvenilir olabilirsin ... Ama hepsi birden olamazsın kendine gel" demek istedim. Ama bu büyüyü bozmak istemediğim için sustum 🙊🙈
💫
