Meditate your ass off 🤣...
This is main message I got from @mindfulinmay yesterday - if you are also doing this program and watched the interview with @drrichardchambers yesterday you will be laughing along with me 😊.
You may have seen on my live and story the other day (a small part of my video attached), that I have realised (i know, not rocket science 😉) how important it is to practice mindfulness regularly just like we exercise our bodies regularly.
I often find that when things are going good in my life, I’m good at mindfulness but when things are stressful (and I need it the most) I abandon any kind of mindfulness practice - disaster!
My challenge to myself now is to use mindfulness daily, regardless of what is happening in my life - even if it’s just for a few minutes.
It’s still not too late to join this program - there is a link in my story posts and on the @mindfulinmay page - you will be able to access all the interviews and meditations.

Right now I’m sitting in a train to Frankfurt, on my way to the final destination Belgium. I love train rides. Just sitting there, seeing the world pass by and having time to read, reflect and listen to music. Slow down. Ever since my childhood this has been a very special thing for me.
When the mind slows down and feels at balance, the body does too. Talking about slowing down: tomorrow anxiety awareness week kicks off here on my account. I’ll talk about general facts, nutrition, exercise, natural remedies and much more. So make sure to stay tuned ❤️

🌱herb of the day: dandelion root🌿our tea is full of this delicious herb. the origin of this herb is that the british would use it to treat hepatitis. today more common benefits include: it contains fatty acids and is an antioxidant, boosts immune function. acts as a laxative and stirs up bile production to reduce blockage in the gallbladder, kidneys, and liver. lowers blood sugar and regulates cholesterol levels and constipation. It is a cleaner alternative for coffee beans and has been proven to slow cancer growth. what’s cool about it is that most of us can go foraging in our yard for this herb.🌿
👐🏼 invest in health👐🏼 •• i have been on a serious mission lately to detox my whole life. from my body, to attachments, to aspects that i am not happy with. becoming a minimalist within myself and my practice has been the biggest relief. letting go of what weighs you down creates space for good energy to enter. today i am thankful for being loved and accepted by myself and the beautiful humans that grow with me••

Can owning a dog 🐕 help us age well?
Apparently yes. (Though if you have ever heard me yelling at Zulu to go back to his mat in my house you might wonder 🤣).
Studies have shown that owning a dog is linked to lower blood pressure, reduced cholesterol and decreased triglyceride levels.
Spending time with a dog can reduce stress (when they aren’t digging in your vegetable patch!) - they help us reduce tension and anxiety and increase serotonin and dopamine (neurochemicals associated with calm and wellbeing).
Dogs also ‘insist’ on walks and thus simply keep us moving more.
Are you a dog owner?
Do you think your dog benefits your health?

This is low-key embarrassing but I’m honestly so amazed and happy for my rekindled health journey that I had to share (mind you, I still have a long way to go). .
I couldn’t understand what was happening to my body a year ago. Could be all the crazy stress of international wedding planning, plus having our newly wed plans turned upside and then suddenly moving across the world, our inconsistent eating habits as travellers, as well my fibroid which is apparently the size of a softball. Most likely it was everything combined. I just knew that my health was out of control and nothing I did seemed to make a sustainable difference until I tried out the #Nutritarian lifestyle. The basic idea of being a Nutritarian is to only eat nutrient dense food (at least 90%) of the time. No refined stuff like refined oils, refined grains, refined sugars. The hardest part was reducing inflammation and excess water by cutting out added salt altogether. .
It was super intense at first. I legitimately cried because my food tasted like water and I was so bummed to think my food would always be so bland. BUT I didn’t give up, I experimented and researched and found ways to make my food taste just as flavourful as before. I’m still learning a lot and finding news ways eat my favourite meals, but the change in my health has been undeniable. My immune system seems to be Fort Knox, the excess weight I had basically melted off within 3.5 months, and my skin has never looked better, not even in my dreams 😂. If anyone is feeling stuck in their health journey like I was, I just wanted to encourage you that you can get back on track and feel the way you want to again! You don’t have to go the Nutritarian route like I did, but I would recommend giving it a chance or at least finding a way to put your health as your priority, even if it’s a temporary 3 month change to start with. We spend over a decade of our lives in school to earn degrees to better our future; 3 months for better health is nothing in the grand scheme of things.🥰 We only get one bod per lifetime, after all 😜

Misty Eyed Miso Soup 🥣
Recipe from The Holistic Anti-Depressant Diet by @ancientrootsmama •
Does miso soup qualify as a potion? 🧙🏼♀️
I read this book cover to cover and am now working my way though the recipes. It starts with a reminder of how very essential digestion is for optimal health, and offers this simple recipe for miso soup so even a busy working mama can’t make excuses for not fitting probiotics into her routine.
The book’s subtitle is basically a list of my favorite things: “Traditional, Edible Practices to Align with Mother Earth, Raise Vibrations and Naturally Curb Anxiety and Depression.” 😍 •
Check it out if you’re looking for ideas for truly healthful eating for mind, body and spirit. Or if you’ve been using “busy” as an excuse to eat all the processed food you see. 🙋🏼♀️
And if you have a little one, follow Hadas on Instagram for lots of insights on being present in powerful ways (@ancientrootsmama).

When you’re on a diet but can fit a cookie in your macros....😄
Who can relate?
The oil scene can feel daunting. I know. I’ve felt it. But my honest-to-goodness best recommendation is to grab yourself a basic top 10 + book set. Includes a FREE DoTERRA customer account (like Amazon Prime or Costco, but cheaper and it’s use it or don’t w/ no requirements), access to our Members Q&A group on FB which is a massive resource and a FREE diffuser on me! It’s like, duh.
Here’s the thing though, people scoff at spending the money. I always wonder why? We spend $100+ on any given date night or taking our family to a new release movie or for 1 Disneyland ticket! Don’t even multiply that number by 4 or more. 😂 But a box and a book that could change how you feel every single day or save you in a middle of the night pickle or even give relief in times of emergency or natural disaster? I double dog dare you to make space in your budget for THAT! You won’t regret this one investment. Promise. #friendstellfriends#investinhealth

-Anxiety Awareness Week, Day 4 -
What about starting into the weekend with these three poses that calm the mind, the body and help get rid of anxious feelings, worries and stress? 🧘🏻♀️Forward folding can be associated with letting go. Back-bending is connected to opening up and feeling free. These are easy poses that activate the parasympathetic nervous system and quickly take you to a state of calmness and peace.
Pose 1: standing forward fold.
Just stand with your feet as wide apart as your hips and slowly bend forward. Gently bend the knees and try to fold from the pelvis without rounding the back too much. Grab the elbows or let those hands touch the floor. Relax into the pose and focus on your breath. Stay for 1-2 minutes.
Pose 2: Balasana (child’s pose)
Bring your knees wide apart, your feet are touching. Try to sit ground back down on your heals and reach the arms forward. Stretch out your spine and breathe into your belly. Stay here for 2-3 minutes.
Pose 3: Ustrasana (camel pose)
For option 1, bring your knees hip-width apart, feet relaxed on the floor. Grab your right heal with your right hand (thumb towards the right side of the foot) and open up your chest. Bend your back while engaging your glutes and lift your left arm up to open up more. Stay here for 5-15 breaths and switch sides.
For option 2, grab the right and left heels at the same time and extend your spine especially in the region of the rib cage (thoracic spine). Breathe slowly and deeply, 5-15 times.
❤️ Instead of the traditional, name brand, chemical-laden candy bars and sweets, I’m eating 85% cacao dark chocolate chips this ❤️ Day!

Yes! I'm so happy I found @openfarmpet ! There aren't too many organic pet foods AND did you know; that just because a meat is organic, doesn't mean the animal was treated well. Organic meat means the animal was fed an organic grain feed and isn't pumped with antibiotics and growth hormones. However, The conditions that animal got to live in, the handling and transportation to slaughter as well as the slaughter itself can be absolutely horrendous and unethical. "Organic" has nothing to do with that. The amount of needless suffering and stress hormones that is being released from that animal, is awful AND that cortisol ends up in your body or your pet's body.
Therefore I'm so excited to now feed my own animals food that is created out of respect and care for our planet. Food that nourishes and hopefully will keep future vet bills to a minimum. #dogfood#pethealth#catfood#investinhealth

Anxiety Awareness Week, Day 3
Anxiety and fear are mediated by the sympathetic part of the autonomous nervous system. While many fear are species-specific and innate, some fears are learned.
One of the oldest parts of our brains - the amygdala - plays a major role in emotional responses including fear. Neurons in this part of the brain can learn to adjust to stimuli that are associated with pain so that in the future these stimuli or just thinking of these stimuli evoke anxiety. Next to a hyperactivity in the amygdala, a diminished activity in the hippocampus can be observed with anxiety disorders. The hippocampus plays a key role in declarative memory.
The stimulus-response relationship associated with anxiety can be both strengthened and weakened. This means we can regulate our stress response to perceived threats through LEARNING. Thanks to neuroplasticity - our brain’s ability to change its structure throughout life - we can evolve and learn to manage anxiety.
