I am inspired by so many things. Especially color!! When I saw Sam’s dress I immediately thought of one of my favorite places in the whole world to shoot! And these two nailed it! Who knew a broken, abandoned greenhouse could be so beautiful!?...😉🙋🏼♀️☺️
It’s snowing today and I admit, I’m happy about it. It’s perfect for the styled shoot we’re doing today and it’s going to be gorgeous! Maybe I’m able to tolerate snow just a tiny little bit more than others, because I have lots of plants growing at the moment and know spring is right around the corner? We have these beautifies sprouting at the moment, with an outdoor greenhouse that will be prepped, tilled and planted this week with these beauties. Bring on the juicy, fluffy, amazing goodness of ranunculus. 💗
Throwback to getting weird in Utah with these two- my favorite humans who saved my butt countless times on that trip 🤦♀️💕
Hopping back on a plane again this weekend and ready for some more epic desert+mountain action 😍
I just finished potting up the rest of our small stock of Peaches ‘N Cream dahlias, to the tune of around 25 tubers. I’m looking forward to getting some great stock in place for this growing season. Can you blame me? This dahlia is a beauty, not only in her color, but in shape as well. ✨
Honestly, I love snow. This year, I’M OVER IT. Having a real winter in Iowa/Missouri for the first time in a while and I’m 100% ready to be a snowbird that overwinters in Arizona or Texas. Take me to the warmth 😭😭

18 degrees doesn’t feel that cold when you’re walking to your car. But when you are out in it for an hour taking some engagement photos, it gets really flipping cold. The red faces, cold ears, and numb fingers were totally worth it tho. Don’t you agree? 😍
Wow, I have so many new followers today! A few months ago I said that when I hit 7k I would do a giveaway, so hold tight while I put my plan in place. In the meantime, hi everyone! My name is Alex, I’m really excited connect with all of you. Please enjoy this photo from 2015. 😍
Cheers to the weekend, friends! What are you going to be up to? Work-Wise: Tyler and I will be spending the next 2 days photographing engagements / mini sessions and a “mini” wedding - oh my! It’ll be a weekend full of variety and we are so looking forward to it (we like to shake things up a bit) // And then in our “After-Hours”: We have a dog park playdate with some of our past clients who became good friends! They have 2 coonhounds and can totally relate to our crazy Gambit (fellow coonhound) + our 5 other rambunctious pups (Yes, to those who are new to our account, we are crazy dog people and have 6 rescue pups!) - - - What about you? Any work / fun plans? [[ These photos of the adorable Dalmatian @luka.lee_ were actually just recently taken at our mini session location! We love all of the variety ❤️🐾 ]]

When he whispers in your ear, “I’ll do ALL the dishes this weekend!”
But for real!! Do you know your man’s love language? Does he know yours? (Google it if you haven’t heard of them!) “Acts of service” was at the bottom of the list of ways I felt loved when we first got married. I’m a “do it yourself” type of girl. BUT now, nothing says I love you more than, “I did the dishes, cleaned the toilet, put away all the laundry, so that you don’t have too.” I mean, really, pick any of those and I’ll feel all the love!! XOXO!
Words are still my number one! But those acts of service are sneaking up there! Anyone else’s change with time?

Do your research! Photographers are such an important part of your day, that’s why I’ve made a list of things to do when picking the right one for you.
1. Make sure you LOVE their work! Go through their galleries.
2. Read those reviews! Do not pass up reading them!!! Read the ones on their website, google, thknot/weddingwire...anywhere you can find some! Maybe even chat with past clients!
3. Make sure they offer engagement pictures in a wedding package! I highly suggest doing your engagement and wedding photos with the same photographer! It helps you get to know each other a bit more and helps relax you for the big day because you’ll actually know the person who is coming and how it will go down!
4. Look through their social media’s and website and make sure everything looks “right”. See how they interact with people. Find their personal accounts too to see who they are not as a photographer.
5. Make sure to contact them with ANY questions you have. Nine times out of ten, they will be able to answer your questions, ease your concerns or help you. They may even adjust things for you.
(My pal, @mckenzie_bigliazzi has a wonderful blog on her website that goes a bit more in-depth and from a photographers point of view!!)
Photographers jobs are to help make your day more simple and relaxed! They know that this day is important to you and they want the best for you. So, don’t hesitate to reach out and spill your concerns. They want to capture all the special moments for you!
And most importantly.... DON’T CHEAT YOURSELF!
There are too many horror stories of “photographers” taking awful photos, not capturing the moments and editing them weirdly...those are typically dirt cheap. It’s a red flag.
A photographer is an INVESTMENT. This person is going to be capturing your memories that you get to look back on for the rest of your life...
Let me know what you want to hear more about! DM or comment below!
I love that just by looking at this I instantly remember how cold I was while taking it haha.
