Desafio 11: Malas
➡️ Verificar o estado de todas as malas e mochilas que têm em casa (incluindo as dos miúdos);
➡️ Deitar fora as que já não estão em condições, ou se possível, reutiliza-las ( se tiverem algumas ideias giras partilhem connosco);
➡️ das que estão em boas condições pensar bem se precisam de todas elas e se não passavam bem com duas ou três;
How are you doing at replacing some of the most ubiquitous plastic waste in your kitchen? Namely, plastic wrap and other types of plastic food storage? Like the beeswax wraps? Yay or nay? Did you know that plastic labeled recyclable, biodegradable or compostable isn’t really much better than other tiles of plastic. It’s marketing greenwashing. What?! See👇
The State of Oregon's Department of Environmental Quality published a study a couple of months ago on "compostable" products. These would be the ones we like to think are actually the most ecological choice over "recyclable or "biodegradable." Unfortunately, the key takeaway is compostable products are WORSE for the environment than non-compostable products. 😬DEQ looked at biobased, recyclable and recycled content products as well. #Zerowaste often focuses on end-of-life instead of the total lifecycle impact an item has.
The term "zero waste" also means different things to different people. When I think of zero waste, I think of products that aren't plastic. Things made of metal, glass or plant-based materials that are actually recycled - not just supposed to be recycled but then are piling up somewhere. Anytime I see plastic in a product promoted as zero waste, it gives me pause. Because we know plastic isn't actually recycled at anywhere near the rate to make recycling plastic a viable option. It is still, at its cold little plastic heart, waste - plain and simple. If it's 100% recycled plastic, I'll give it a pass(ish), but it's still headed to the landfill eventually. 🌱
These new studies continue to show us we should look for alternatives to plastic and to move away from our disposable mindset altogether, IMHO.
BTW this is Portland, so of course when I made these beeswax wraps I had to #putabirdonit

“In the quest for simplicity a person needs allies”
Erin Boyle, Simple Matters
Sometimes a “living with less” and budget focused lifestyle can feel so backwards from typical societal norms. Things like learning to say “no” to items, outings, or purchases in the quest for simplicity, slow living, intentionality. Taking out cash envelopes at a retailer instead of swiping a card, sticking to a monthly budget, delaying purchases. I wouldn’t say these are common practice, they definitely haven’t been for me until recently, but they have become integral personal goals for me.
I don’t think these specific goals I have are a “one size fits all” approach to life, I believe we all have different God given passions, strengths and weaknesses that lead us to our own personal goals. Whatever your goal(s) may be, sometimes you can hit a bump in the road, lose confidence, or get off track. Then there’s this amazing feeling of being re-centred again by an ally, whether it be in the form of a spouse, a book, a family member or friend, an instagram post, someone sharing an inspiring quote - whatever it may be - and it offers the motivation to keep going, that nudge to keep heading in a direction, a teammate that doesn’t let you give up.
I just finished this library book, Simple Matters, last night and the idea of allies made me stop and think of how grateful I am for this community. I am so thankful for each and every ally I have come across in my journey to live with less and find contentment in life’s simple pleasures. Thank you for your encouragement and tips, motivation and advice, I am very grateful to experience how social media has the power to be so wonderful when it brings people together in community.

this morning was filled with good news. our best friends from Iceland got a yes from the bank and are able to buy a house next to us. our tribe is expanding and we are beyond excited for the next chapter in our lives. ✨ they are staying with us meanwhile. this morning me and Agla were talking and reflecting on life and our dreams, when she notices a butterfly in front of her where she is laying down in our living room. black and orange butterfly. it symbolizes transformation and joy. what a beautiful omen 🦋 #fullmoon
#40tageaufräumchallenge - Werbung.

Back pain, knock knees, lordosis and swaggy hips usually correlate with weak glutes. Try these exercises 3-4 times a week and just see how much better you feel. My head isn’t important in this video, but what is important is hip placement, core and shoulder stability and leg position. So here ya go 😜. Do these exercises, 3 rounds of 10-20 reps. and if your glutes are not on fire, you are probably doing it wrong. #checkyourform#lessismore#formiseverything#hipstabilityexercises#glutemedius#buttworkout#pilates#matpilates#aloyoga 1. 🍑 clams: knee bend at 90, keep feet and knees in same plane and lift your feet up - pressing heels AND toes together while opening your top knee. Don’t let your bottom rib fall or your top hip roll back 2. 🍑 leg lift with medial rotation knee tap #idonthaveabetternameforit open top leg, then rotate the leg inward, Tap knees and open again then close #repeat 3.🍑 donkey kicks medial rotation and KEEP YOUR HEEL THE HIGHEST POINT.
