  • I’m done explaining myself to people. The results will continue to show and I’m going to continue shouting out all the people who support me. Constructive criticism is necessary from people would have actually supported your brand. But taking options from people who never even purchased your product and never will, is straight stupid. Black entrepreneur, keep being great at what you do. Keep growing in business. You will make mistakes. You will have poor customer service at times. You will have people who give you a hard time because they are assholes. You will have people say nasty things about you and your company in social media. You will have people who buy your product and then ask for a refund 10 days later or try to put in a charge back with their bank. You’re gonna get all of that from the same people who would never do that to a large corporation. Just stay strong. Trust in God. Follow the course. One brick at a time in 2019. Comment 💯 if you’re going to follow the course this year!!! It’s time ❤️ @jumpingjacktax #thepastorofbusiness #lifelessons

  • I'm going to take a moment to be really transparent with you.
•
In going through this pageant process I've had to sit back and ask myself a lot of questions about why I'm doing it. At first, it was because of an invitation from the pageant director to just give it a shot. And, as scared as I was to actually say "Yes" and make the commitment to go through with it, I figured I would just get all the right outfits, the right gown, make a few social media posts about it, and just pray that I survived.
•
Over the last couple of weeks it has turned into so much more than that, and perhaps this comes from my habit of overthinking things.
•
First, I really, truly want to educate myself more about the Foster System and the many, many different programs that go in to supporting families, children, their rights, education and their voice. I've spent a lot of time reading, reaching out, and figuring out how to fit this into my life, because the more I learn the more I am seeing how much attention needs to be brought to this entire organization - far more than I can fit into the next 10 weeks. But I am taking things in small steps, doing what I can do, and I plan to continue this research and involvement long after the pageant is over.
•
Second, I have had to get real with myself and truly ask the question - do I really believe in myself? The short answer that I've come to realize is - not as much as I thought I did. There are things I have confidence in, that I feel I'm good at. But overall, it's been a hard thing to face that in reality I don't really, actually believe in me, and that is a really difficult thing to overcome. I have spent so much time trying to uplift others, and trying to help them see how truly unique and amazing they are, and that they have something special to offer the world - but when I look in the mirror, I've realized that I haven't spent enough time building up that knowledge about myself.
•
So, along with the efforts I will continue to make toward the causes I want to support, I know that I need to spend a lot of time on personal development, and really start believing that I even remotely belong in this thing.
